10/12/08 Me and my wife moved in 11/01/04. There isn't a lot of crime, and the old lady with the clip board that walks around doesn't do it that much due to her husband passing away and due to her age I'm sure. They keep the grounds clean, maintenance is good at fixing the problems, however its is generally just 1 guy, aside from the flavors of the month that they hire. I lived in a downstairs apartment and being that the apartments are 30 years old they aren't bad, but there is about 1 foot of air space between your ceiling and the 2nd floor. I know this cause they cut a place out of our bathroom ceiling due to a water leak. you can definatley hear the upstairs neighbors thumping thru the apartment when they walk, you hear water, TV, stereo and the midnight romeos that come over. I moved in paying $575. The 1st year the rent went up $15, 2nd year it went up $40 & when I asked why they said "due to them never having an increase they had to do this", 3rd year $50 & when I asked why they said "they have a management co that tells them how much to increase & that the existing tenants will always pay less than the new tenats" we know that is false because they move their boyfriends in way below any rent rate (word gets around in this complex) and not everyone gets the same rent increase, they just charge whatever they want. Now at this point (in 2007, our 3rd renewal at $680) townsgate is charging $730 for a 2BR, and people are getting their rent increase and moving out, & no one is moving in due to the amount they are charging. Then later I start seeing newspaper adds and the move in amount is $690 (which is confirmed by new people moving in). there were 2 tenants above me and a period of about 8 months when it was empty. then I got a neighbor above me again and the lady in the office talked to me one day and apologized for the fact that she had to hurry and move the people in above me and didn't have time to fix the bad spots in the floor (which was empty for about 8 months) sounds lazy to me! Sure enough its renewal time and they went up $10, no big deal, I've lived here 4 years and they are increasing my rent to the same amount the new tenants are paying when they move in!! Also you get 1 numbered spot to park so if you have 2 vehicles the 2nd person has to hunt for a spot to park. So, Welcome to Townsgate where they lie and the only one that works is the matinence man that has been here forever.
10/13/08 Well wouldn't you know it, the staff called me (the wife) today on my cell phone while I was at work!!!! HOW DARE THEY CALL ME!!!! She told me my husband was being immature for doing this review, (2nd comment on this review, Anonymous is one of the women in the office) we have every right to do this review. She also told me that if we had come into the office and talked to them about this that they could have done something for us or not done the increase at all. I don't believe that!!! We have been in the office every year about the increases (each time getting a different excuse) and they never offered to lower the monthly amount, so why would we expect them to this year. The thing that makes us mad is we have been lied to, and apparently still are. She told me that they didn't want to lose a good resident over something like this but when we went to the office to give our 30 days notice one of the women in there didn't even ask why we were leaving, she didn't act like she cared! As far as the response about the $730 rent....that is what we were told the rent was for new people in Oct 2007 by managment, so if that is false it came from the office. From what she told me is the $690 they are moving people in at is a special, but they still want me to pay the same amount as the new people when we have been here 4 years!! We are just done with this place, I don't need anymore calls from Management! We will be turning in our keys on 10/31!

See my comments from 2/08. My mind has not changed. I suspect the above tenet has not lived in apartments much or done research for prices. My apartment would be $1000 in other locals-I have checked. Laundry rooms are cleaned. Repairs are done timely. Grounds are above average. I have lived here 15 yr thru 2 management companies. The prior owner not so hot.I feel safe her with well lite streets at night. Hope the above finds what he/she is looking for!

$105.00 over four years breaks down to about $26.00 increase each year. That isn't so bad now is it? I also happen to know that none of the women that work at Townsgate have a boyfriend living here so you don't know what you are talking about. The rent on a 2 bedroom is NOT $730.00 you should talk to the source and get better information and tell the truth.
