Not bad to rent, but a joke to buy

My husband and I and our son lived here from Nov 2004 to April 2005, before our daughter was born. I had just had to move from a house I was renting with my son before my husband and I got married, in which that person put the house up for sale without telling me and I had 2 weeks to move out. We told this to the apartment complex and that we did not want this to happen again. And guess what, it did, and well, 4 months later, they sent out letters that they were selling the apartments as condos and those that could not buy would have to leave. They had to have known that when we moved in. They wanted to sell our place which was on the 2nd floor for 189,000. I say this is a joke because, as the place was nice to rent and clean, and fairly new, nice gym, etc, but as a place to buy never. There is like no insulation whatsoever in between the apartments. You can hear everything in the other apartments. No joke, I have heard people sneeze, even fart above and below the apartment we were living in. And we had fairly good neighbors, it was not their fault. In addition to be able to hear every single noise, our master bedroom had only one wall that you could put the bed on, and that wall was the one that was against the stairwell of the apartments, so you guessed it. You would be sleeping soundly and all of a sudden hear people going up and down the stairs and hear clang, clang, and hear every word that people said in the hallway when you were trying to sleep. On top of this, we had valet trash in which people would stick their trash in our bin, so then we would have to take our remaining garbage down to our car and drive it to the trash compactor ourselves, because people's bins would fill up and they didn't want to have to go to the trash compactor, so they would just stick it in ours, so that we would have to. It wasn't too bad of a place to rent, and allowed our 2 large dogs, but it is not a place to buy. The walls are so thin, I can't imagine wanting to own one. Everyone in the complex joked about how cheaply they were made and that noone would buy them, and sure enough when they sent out the letters to buy, only 4 people came to the meeting about wanting to buy, we heard, and we were given the option to break the lease if we could not buy and when we moved out there was hardly anyone left, because noone wanted to buy. Those who lived there, knew how cheaply they were made, and how thin the walls were, and they also knew that they could get a house for that price with a yard where they would not have to listen to every bodily function next door. And overpriced too. It was $1155 a month for a 3 bedroom and they were small. LOL It was ok to rent, but a joke to buy.Not only that, but they had a heated pool that was advertised in the ad. We had went to the pool one night and it was freezing. We went to the office thinking maybe someone forgot to turn the heater back on, or that it had accidently gotten turned off, but nope, they said they turn off the heater in march, in which the water is too cold to swim in without a heater until June when it is like 90 degrees outside. Would you like to pay that much rent to only be able to use a heated pool part of the time. And better yet would you like to buy there and not even be able to use the heated pool that you were supposed to have'

This response is 100% accurate & I remember exactly this when I live there for 9 months in the period of August 2004 through May of 2005. Back then, they charged $940 a month for a one bedroom apartment with vaulted ceiling which was $25 ex a month & $15 ex for a view of the 'lake'. It was a ripoff as an apartment & I thought they were absolutely out of their minds when they wanted to go condo. Sorry to read more people had bad experiences!
