What an experience - When it seems too good to be true, it usually is...

Situation:
I moved here after diligently searching for the perfect apartment. When Sterling Management contacted me with their offer, it seemed to good to be true, so I rented a condo from a private owner in the complex. While I was here, the property manager changed. When I called last month to ask what options I had about renewing my lease, I was informed that the unit was being sold and that I could not resign another year lease. When I asked why I wasn't informed, I was told that it wasn't the Management company's responsibility to tell me. When I asked how I would have found out if I hadn't called, I was told that a realtor would be contacting me shortly and that I would have to set up times to show my apartment/condo. I was told that I would be switched to a month-to-month lease, and to "not worry" because they would waive the increase of my rent and if I wanted they would move me to another apartment the same size, when I said that sounded like something I would like to look into, I was told that, OOPS there were none, and that my only option was to move into a larger apartment at a higher price...what a coincidence. I have called the property manager twice since then to find out if I needed to complete additional paperwork since my lease terms "automatically" changed, and to follow up on a noise violation that I received because apparently my dog barks during the day when I am at work (he is now confined in a cage in my bedroom all day because a second violation would cause me to be evicted). I have not received any return phone calls and currently have no idea where I stand. I have never received any documentation stating that my lease would change to month-to-month or that the unit that I am currently living in is being sold. I really haven't had any dealings with the apartment staff, but the property manager for Sterling, Linda, has proved herself to be extremely unprofessional. She even told me that she would look into the noise violation and call me back, which she never did. I had to call her back and when I did, she asked me if my dog had stopped barking during the day (I responded that I wouldn't know because I was not at home during the day and in the evenings my dog very rarely, if ever, barks - she did not have a response).
Apartment Living:
My apartment is on the bottom floor, and during summer I found a snake in the bathtub that I was told probably came up through the pipes and during the winter large palmetto bugs came through the crack under the door. The air doesn't circulate into my bedroom and at night the air is stifling, even with the fan on (the A/C is set to 72). My laundry area sometimes smells like cigarette smoke even though no one smokes in my apartment. The alarm in the apartment has gone haywire after the fire department showed up one day, and sometimes out-of-the-blue starts beeping for no reason. I have had solicitors at my door multiple times even though there is supposed to be no solicitation in the complex. And the dishwasher NEVER cleans the dishes unless the dishes are clean to start with. At one point, there was a girl stealing packages left at the front door of tenants. Luckily, nothing was ever stolen from me, but I did take precautions to have any packages sent to my office address.
On a better note, at least I feel safe here because there is a security guard on duty at night. And I only SOMETIMES hear the noise from 301.
I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX, BUT NOT RENTING FROM STERLING MANAGEMENT (unless they bring back the old property manager, Angela, she was great)!! odusyNYCcZ7yL3Bj5JtG

thats funny!!! were going through the samme thing!! we just resigned a new lease through them again and of course for a higher price but we initally wanted to move to a bigger unit. It was a big hassle to get a hold of her! SHE SUCKS! I heard the angela wont be back because of a realestate licsence issue. Anyways we finally decided on the 2b2ba b3 model today. She kinda cut us a deal since the previous tennate alreaddy paid, but the guy alreaddy moved out! Sounds kinda fishey, but a month free plus washer and dryer is there that helps! We also didnt have to resubmitt and pet fees/ deposits either! After all comming from a unit that was just reciently foreclosed on I would hope that this would be in our favor! Hopefully we dont have a problem in this new unit we will only be here for another year!

Are you still having problems with the property management? Are they running the place better now that Sterling isn't there? Are you happy with the place currently?
