Watch out, their leases are CRAP!

I moved in on the last day of Feb. 2005 . During which time i signed a 13 month lease (12 month lease and 1 month free b/c of a "special" they had going on)and was told my lease would become active the first day of march. Was told their copy machine was broken so i would get a copy of the lease on my doorstep the next morning. Never recieved the lease, and asked for a copy every month and never recieved it. The following Feb. 2006, i was told i had to renew my lease (which seemed odd, since it was only feb. and my lease didn't start till march and didn't end till the end of april). I mentioned this and was given the ultimatum of "renew or get out by the end of feb", So being a student w/ 2 months left i was forced to renew my lease to have a place to stay. I also told them at this time that i would be moving out by the end of April, giving them a 2 months notice. Come April 14th, when i moved out, i was told i would owe 2 months rent at $1135/mo for not giving a 2 months notice (when i did give them one) and an additional months rent for breaking the lease early owing, $3500 after taxes.
The apartment i had was nice, minus the bugs that were crawling around the kitchen are and bathrooms all the time. The Air Conditioning broke 4 times the first month i was in the apartment. The detached garage was VERY small, and they were CONSTANTLY telling me what i could and could not keep in it. The parking is HORENDOUS! I usually ended up walking 1/4 mile to my car everyday and night b/c those with garages never parked in them. There are no speed bumps in the driveways anywhere, so people are continously doing 25-35 mph thru the area. My Garage was broken into resulting in a $6000 motor cycle being stolen, and the Sanford police are absolutely worthless, as they did nothing to find my motorcycle, even after i gave them all the information of who stole the bike...

dang! sounds like u had just as bad of a time as we did. Plantation sucks totally. I agree with what you said. They didnt screw us on our lease. but Im waiting to see if they are going to screw us on getting our deposit back. Because we left it SPOTLESS, even down to cleaning baseboards and shampooing carpet. I doubt we will get it back. But that place is HORRIBLE. my car got broken into as well in october 2006, and sanford PD sent out some 65 year old guy and they didnt even do anything. Never heard back from them.

Wow.. Anonymous, your pretty f'n ignorant to. How the hell are you supposed to READ A LEASE when you are NEVER GIVEN ONE from day one, and never given one after multiple requests.
Hence the reason for this statement. "..and was told my lease would become active the first day of march. Was told their copy machine was broken so i would get a copy of the lease on my doorstep the next morning. Never recieved the lease, and asked for a copy every month and never recieved it."
And you need to learn to READ and pay attention b/c of this statement-
"I mentioned this and was given the ultimatum of "renew or get out by the end of feb", So being a student w/ 2 months left i was forced to renew my lease to have a place to stay. I also told them at this time that i would be moving out by the end of April, giving them a 2 months notice."
So you have just proven that the manangement of Plantation lakes Is just as ignorant and stupid as yourself. Everytime i asked any of the women for anything there i was given a nice answer, but if it didnt get done when they said it was and i brought it up, they became bitchy.
Learn to read before you speak out of your ass, stupid.

You wrote: "as they did nothing to find my motorcycle, even after i gave them all the information of who stole the bike... " As you wrote...you know who it was that stole your "$6000.00" bike. (I am sure you inflated the price)If you knew who the person was who stole the bike then there is no reason to blame management or the sanford police for the fact that the people you associate with broke into your garage and stole your bike. Dont hang out with convicts and this wouldnt happen. I cant wait to see what other comment you have to say you trashy excuse for a human.
