I lived in the Villagio for a little less than a year during 2002-2003. The apartments are nearly brand new and have nice (if NOT top-of-the-line) appliances. I was able to hook up my DirecTV satellite to the unit (a big plus for me) and never had trouble with neighbors, noise, crime or the management. My second floor unit had tray ceilings and a very small balcony. Occasionally, the crazy old guy in the golf cart will yell at you for driving too fast, but that's just his job. Also, after cleaning the apartment with a fine-toothed comb I was pleased to actually get my deposit back with no charges for cleaning/damage (a rarity in the 'big apartment community' world).

Pool is nice. Gym is small, but fine. Renting a W/D is simple and convenient.

The price is right if you're looking for a luxurious apt community that's close to downtown. Others in Sarasota that are on par wtih Villagio are typically way out in the 'boonies'.
