Newcomers: I don?t recommend choosing Camden

Staff friendly until you sign the lease, then they really could care less about you. We learned only after moving in (ie signing lease) that our cats couldn?t go outside, ever, unless leashed. Yeah, right, cats really dig being on a leash!
We went 4 weeks with a broken vertical blind in my mother's bedroom, so if she wanted to do normal bedroom stuff, like, get changed for bed!, she had to put a blanket or towel or a board in front of window. I called the office several times, firmly and politely asking when maintenance would get back to us with the blind. The office staff would pass the buck..."Oh, we're not in charge of when maintenance gets there..." and that sort of thing. Well, let me tell you how, if you're a resident and you need something done (by this time, my shower curtain rod was also broken), you can get it: you throw out the "polite and firm" routine, call them up and scream at the top of your lungs, demanding service. That seems to work for the staff: they had someone right over that day to fix the blinds in mom's room and my shower curtain. Now a drawer in the kitchen is broken, we wonder how long it'll be til we get service, but hey there's always the "scream at 'em" method, right'
The lease claims that all lightbulbs (talk about ----) are working upon move in and must all be working when you move out. Well, I can be just as ------the bulb in my mom's bedroom closet was out upon move-in. If they so much as make a PEEP about that bulb when we finally are released from our 7-month lease runs out, they'll be hearing in short order from my attorney back home in Boston.
Pest control--the guy comes in and sprays for about 2 seconds in about a half dozen places, that's pest control'
We rent for $30 extra a month, a washer and dryer that is so old, the water doesn't get cold enough, and the dryer is so old that it doesn't get hot enough to dry clothes within a decent amount of time, so read that: wasting energy, our electric bill is higher. Also the dishwasher is so old pieces are missing inside, and as well, you have to put in about a CUP of liquid detergent to get dishes clean.
If I had any idea how many kids would be skateboarding and biking in front of my apt all afternoon after school and on weekends, I of course never would have moved in here in the first place.
Convenient to downtown' Give me a break, it's 25 min. drive, minimum, to the bayfront.
Now they've just closed the back pool (yup, the one that's convenient to my apt.) "until further notice." That's right, get our money, tie us up in a lease that says we have access to TWO pools, not one, then take away one of the pools. Uh, um, is that legal' Think I'll look into it.
If you are looking at Camden on Internet as a place to live, like we did, do NOT do it, it is not nearly what it seems in the glitzy and transparent world of cyber-rentals.
