lived here since the beginning, and it's probably safe to say im the person who has lived here the longest...a couple complaints. FIRST, the landscaping stinks. First, they use natural florida weeds as the plant life instead of grass. I guess they think the small yellow flowers look good, but it makes the complex look cheap and trashy. SECOND, the pool area is an absolute disaster. They never clean the area. The pool chairs are all black and spotted with paint and have never been cleaned. The ground of the pool area is always full of cigarette butts, bloody bandaids, trash, and rats coming out of the gutters. The hot tub alone has been shut down by the health department more than a several times. If they cleaned the area more, including the table tops, it wouldn't be so bad, the management does not put in the effort. THIRD, when outside the gates in the front of the community there is couches, desks, beds, and such that has been there for months and management never thought to call the trash department to dispose of them. It cheapens the complex immensely. FOURTH, alot of the residents are less than reputable.
However, with proper landscaping (grass instead of natural florida weeds), the trash picked up, and the pool area actually kept up and blown off reguarly, it would be a decent place. However, that would involve work. OVERALL: so-so.

I have lived here for about a year, and I can say that the landscaping could be better, I agree however, I use the pool everyday and I have never had a problem with a dirty table. As for the spots on the chairs, that is from people who use suntan oil and sunscreen. That won't ever come off. The cigarette butts are from all of those irresponsible smokers who fick there butts wherever they want. Maybe some of the other residents here who cause the problems should think about the way our property looks and the way we want it to look. It only takes a couple of extra minutes to throw your trash into the compactor. As far as the furniture out there, it was my understanding when I moved in that we were not suppose to put furniture out by the compactor. I guess we all don't follow the rules.

Just reading these responses from management is hilarious! Who else would monitor this website and try to defend every review as they come in??? Please use your time doing the job that your owners or management company are paying you to do...you would not get negative reviews if you focussed on that to begin with! The comments are real...please listen and make some changes...oooppps-that work thing again.

Its funny that you say management is responding. Looks like you and someonewhocares having nothing better to do with your time. I think that if management was responding to these comments they would say that they are part of management. Personally, the manager is a little rude sometimes but not the entire staff.

I was thinking of getting a place at Calais, but really, rude office management stinks . . . to the point that I would much rather prefer a place with polite office staff. That DOES make a difference.
