calais beat me on my deposit also. i lived in my apartment for two years and at the end of my lease i had the carpet professionaly cleaned and they STILL took my entire deposit for new carpet. The carpet wasn't new when i moved in. if you like the new box style architecture then look at calais. But be prepared to be treated poorly by management, and 100% for certain kiss your deposit goodbye the minute you give it to them.
