My husband and I have lived in Camden properties for over 3 years. We moved to this Camden 15 months ago. We had a loft and paid $839.00. For the price, it was great. Spacious rooms, bathrooms, and a decent size linen closet. We lived close by the laundry mat, so laundry wasn't TOO bad. After our 15 month lease we received notice our rent was raised $170.00 per month!! That is a 20% increase!!! That's unheard of. I understand supply and demand, but lets compare apples to apples. Camden has the cheapest appliance package ever. I believe our stove is from 1970 (I think it's the original), we have to wash our dishes before putting them in the dishwasher, and the garbage disposal make weird noises. We bought our own shower head, and the air conditioner is all taped up. They did give us new paint, new carpet and also a new deck, but I have old appliances, old cabinets, and a small kitchen.... and they are charging me $1009.00. With that, mind you, you pay about $50.00 in water, and another $50 in laundry expenses by going to the laundry mat. So total = $1109 a month. NOW... go next door, to Bridgewater, or Isles of Gateway, get stainless steel GE appliance, hot tubs, and a gated community. Oh, and your own washer and dryer.... very important. I found an apartment 2b/2b at Bridgewater for $1,100. Water included!!!!! And a 2b/2b at Isles of Gateway for $1,185 also WATER INCLUDED!!! So are we really comparing apples to apples' Yes, $839.oo might be under value, but the property is under value.
