I lived in Emerald Pointe from 12/92 to 7/94. It was an awful complex then and driving by it recently just to take a look, it looks bad now.
As for why it was awful then: roaches. We were neat and clean, as neat and clean as we could be and still had a roach problem in the kitchen.
Fleas! We didn't have any pets, never had any animals inside and yet we had fleas from whomever lived there before us (or maybe even prior to that).
Vandalism. My car was broken into and the stereo stolen, despite the gates on the north and south side of the property. The security guard was good but he left the property at 12am. Why' That's when cars were getting vandalized.
The management then (I believe it's different now) was awful as well. It was a company from Cleveland who owned the dump and all the employees were typical Ohio white trash they sent down to run things.
As for the way the place looks now, it looks like crap. I'm in Inlet Bay, up on 4th street. Not great but better than this hell hole, unless you like Bosnian immigrants and other white trash.

No, actually I'm a proud Florida native. I grew up in St. Pete. So try again.
