My overall stay has been pleasant. I'm going on 4 years at the complex. I've had a few problems with maintenance not getting to things very quickly, but for the past year they've been really good. I've found that the nicer you are to the office staff, the better they treat you. (If someone yelled at me, I wouldn't exactly go out of my way to help that person).
Those complaining of the massive rent increases need to understand supply and demand as well as the rapid increase in insurance costs. I anticipated that my rent would increase substantially upon renewal this past year, but I also enjoyed low rent the prior years due to incentives. Now that half the communities in the area are gone, tenants at those rondos are looking for places to live. Also, negotiate when you renew. Renewal rates are not "set in stone".
I'd recommend the older-looking side of the complex (2 story buildings) as I've never had a problem with noise. I lived on the other side (3-story) a few years prior and easily heard neighbors due to the cheap wood frame construction. Also, get the top floor if you don't want to hear people stomping around. My highest electric bill so far was about $170 for those that are looking to rent (they tell you in the office its about $50 for a one bedroom, which is WAY OFF). I do keep my air at 70 degrees.
Overall, I'd say Inlet Bay is one of the better apartment communities in the area.
