today i was walking my dog and noticed a trap in the wooded area. there was a scared baby raccoon in it. the poor thing was terrified! i went to the office to ask about it and the office girls informed me that some residents of the promenade are angry that there are raccoons on the property and are mad at the staff for not getting rid of these harmless creatures. the office is doing what they can, and unfortunatly the trappers cannot release the raccoons so these poor little animals are trapped and killed because people are so insensitive!
i have lived here for three years and have never had a single complaint until now! i love the grounds, the area, my apartment, the staff, and even the raccoons! my complaint is with these unkind individuals that would rather an animal be tortured than see a few by the trash box. there is no crime here, just raccoons. the people who would rather see these animals die should move to another place where instead of raccoons there will be break-ins, drugs, etc.
i am writing this letter in response to those complaining: please realize that our homes are built on theirs, they were here first, and cause us no harm.
this is a wonderful place with a very caring office staff, however, i have to wonder about some of these insensitive people living here.

I agree. I've lived here for 3 years too and have never had a problem. I see them when I go to throw my trash out but they don't charge me.... I'm more concerned about my neighbors POOR DRIVING SKILLS - yea, like hitting a parked car. Good job genius. Viva la raccoons.

I agree with you! who cares if there are racoons around. all they want is food. they arent here to harm anyone. they run away when they see people (well unless its at the dumpster, then they greet you.) I think the traps are inhumane and should not be set out on the grounds. Racoons are everywhere no matter where you live. Maybe people should throw their trash IN the dumpster and not just on the outside of it. I cant believe the some of the people around here that have no respect for the property in which they live and throw their crap wherever they like. Maybe there should be more focus on those tenants that let their dogs CRAP in the parking lot than the harmless racoons!!

Ok- at one time i did agree.. we called them sweeties.. and we were one of the dummies who used to feed them over at the dumpster. Now, a year later- they are everywhere and no longer afraid of people. They hang out at the front stoop, jump on the cars and tear into the porch screens.
eventually like all wild animals who loose their fear to humans.. they can and will bite.

I currently live in Promenade and have been here since 2007. I love just about everything here as well, it's actually quite peaceful! However, I am disgusted by the fact that the raccoons are being trapped and killed! It's horrific. When I signed my residential contract upon moving, there was a very clear mention of the raccoons in the paperwork! This is a nature preserve for goodness' sake. What would one expect? That's the reason I live here in the first place. Furthermore, there are humane methods to deter the creatures from bothering the areas that humans frequent, all one needs to do is look on the internet!

I was thinking of living in Promenade. They'd have to stop killing raccoons. Idiot PEOPLE feeding them started the problem. If the PEOPLE don't like the raccoons, YOU move. They lived there before you.
