As a life-long resident of the area, just returning from college, Spring Lake Village was better than most of the communities I've seen in the south St. Petersburg area. A quiet[in my opinion] complex nestled between a future construction site and a community of low income apartment homes, I find that Spring Lake is more peaceful than some would paint it to be. Although there is no wall between the complexes, the only time I see children from the adjoining property is when they are using the soda machine and I live right by the soda machine, front office and pool. Crime is not really much of a factor, and as a resident that drives a nice pretty much new vehicle I have never felt the need for a club or security device of any knid due to the area in which I live. The only issue I do have is the poor construction, which lead to abnormally warm apartments no matter what temperature your thermostat is on. Lighting is not really an issue. The outside ligthing here is on par with the amount of lighting I've experienced in more pricey and 'luxurious' communities that I have lived in. All in all I would say if you can bear the summertime warmth and can appreciate the cheaper rent and extreme convenience of the location[near two grocery stores, two gas stations, a Walgreens, WalMart and an I275 juncion as soon as you leave the parking lot] Spring Lake Village is the place for you.
