The nightmare creeps up on you gradually. At first glance, the welcome center has been updated and looks beautiful. This of course is a just sales tactic, because they know first impressions are everything. West Port Colony was recently taken over by Greystar Management, and that?s when the problems began. While speaking with other tenants, I began to understand that this place has degraded rapidly since the new management took over. I would run out of space if I include every detail that disgusts me about living here, so I will be as brief as possible if for no other reason than to save others the grief of being sucked into this "ghetto in disguise". Since we moved in months ago, maintenance has yet to repair several problems that were noted upon move-in. I was assured that these items would be repaired immediately, yet nothing has been done. We pay "gated community" rental rates, and yet as I write this, all security gates have been in disrepair and tied with string in the open position for more than 3 weeks now. There have been several burglaries and car thefts, and yet the gates are never working. Management left notes on all tenant?s doors informing them that they are aware of the burglaries and would attempt to obtain nighttime security. Of course it?s another broken promise, as there is still no security and no working gates. If you are looking for security, this is not the place. Let me also touch briefly on the trash situation. Deplorable conditions await you upon arrival to the trash compactor. On several occasions you will find waist high piles of trash bags all around the compactor because the compactor is either full or is not functioning. To top things off, the resident raccoons can be seen nightly on the trash pile, tearing the trash to shreds in search of food, and will actually growl at you if you attempt to leave your trash at the compactor after dark. I won?t get into the insect problem, which I had to take care of myself. There is a swimming pool, which is always full of leaves and other debris. Beer bottles and cigarette butts are strewn about on the pool deck. There is an outdoor raquetball court, which can easily double as a swimming pool since it has been submerged under water on several occasions, and when it?s not flooded, it?s covered in dirt and branches. I have photos of all these conditions. I?m just not sure what I will do with them yet. My overall opinion' If you plan to live here, please talk to the residents first, they will tell you the true story.
