We've lived here for over 6 years. We're sick of apartment living and are searching for a house at this point. At Windjammer, the management has always been either invisible or useless. As are the maintenance crew, which I think is 1 man. The grounds keepers visit once a week, but it's only 2 non English speaking guys who edge 3x a month and cut the grass 1x a month. If that. They generally use the leaf blower, but for what' That's pointless in such a wooded area. There are bats and bees nesting in the walls and roofs. Pipe leaks and flooding are a frequent problem, the biggest problem here, resulting in property damage and mold, which only gets painted over - hello, health hazard! Appliances don't work and before my unit was sold as a condo, nothing ever got fixed. Now I have a private landlord and he's had to replace nearly everything in this dump. He's so disgusted with it that he's now selling it. It didn't matter how many times you complained about issues here, Windjammer would not resolve them and now it's up to the private owners to replace everything. Dryer ducts are never cleaned out (even though we've asked them repeatedly to do so, they promised to do so, but never did), resulting in moisture accumulating in the walls and leaks resulting from that. This is also a fire hazard. The walls and floors are thin, and you can hear your neighbors at all hours of the day and night, not to mention that when someone walks above us, our windows and patio door rattle and our children are often awakened. Almost no one cleans up after their dogs and many walk them at the playground, where children are running about. With all the woods surrounding this place, does it make sense to let your dog poop at the playground' Complete morons live here. Expect to have your kids shoes caked in dog crap if you let them play out there. Speaking of which, the playground is torn up to the point where it's dangerous, so you really can't use that. There are certain children who have worked piece by piece to destroy that playground and nothing is done about it. That playground is a lawsuit waiting to happen. The kids destroying that have also torn up other parts of the complex and have started fires in the surrounding woods. So the kids run rampant here. There are a number of rumored prostitutes and drug dealers living here in various buildings. There are also homeless people living in the surrounding woods. I've seen them a few times. There are also lots of break-ins and car thefts. Lots. So, you really can't raise kids in this dump. There is a dump for your large garbage, ie: furniture. It sits almost on the street on a curve and it's nearly impossible to see traffic coming at you around this. You certainly can't see the kids in the street behind it and they're often playing in the street here. That dump was placed in the worst spot ever. It is handy for garbage pickers, at least and you will see them often. When this trash is finally removed, glass and tiny objects litter the street, which in turn end up in your car's tires. Residents have to come out with brooms and dustpans to clear the street. You have assigned parking. If your car is under a tree that rains sap non stop, tough luck. Windjammer will not remove the tree or even cut back the branches that hang over your car. We've asked and were declined. The sidewalks are cracked and uneven. So if you are handicapped or have difficulty walking, then you will most likely have a problem with this. The machines in the laundry rooms don't work. The workout room has crap in it from former tenants who left their equipment behind. The ponds here are often stagnant, with scum growing on top. That's if they have any water in them to begin with. Let's see, did I miss anything' In summary, this place is just garbage. Too bad too, as the size of the homes are fair, the layouts are nice, the pool's okay and the location cannot be beat. Sadly, there are just too many problems here. Save yourself some grief and look elsewhere.
