The people who run alumni village are rude and will do whatever they can to inconvenience you. The housing is not fit for human habitation: the apartments are so old and shoddy you can hear every step your neighbors take and even hear them use the toilet. It is in a dangerous part of town (although to be fair the FSU police are present and very reassuring). PLEASE do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY.

I agree! Spoiled, rude, immature Americans should stay far, far away. It's much nicer here without you. I'm an American who loves the international community here; and the absence of arsehat American students with their ridiculous sense of entitlement, superficial values, drug 'n drinking problems, video game addictions, and general notion that the universe revolves around their whims is a big, big plus. Been here for several years and everyone here, from main office to maintenance, has been wonderful and helpful to me. Maybe you need Civilization 101 lessons?

Reviewer is right about everything being old. But the buildings are anything but shoddy (s/he may not understand what that word means) -- they were built when there was actually some decent construction standards. Believe me, if a tornado or hurricane or bad storm hits, you want to be in these buildings rather than some spit-and-cardboard newer townhouse. But nevertheless, it's true that the appliances are old. Be neat if some alum would donate to upgrade AV, with solar heating/cooling, gardens, energy-saving doors and windows, new linoleum, etc. etc. With all the greenspace, it would become the most desired living space in the area. And I guess then all the jerks would move in. Okay. Never mind.
