Don't do it, I mean it.

I moved here thinking, hey, it's in Killearn so it must be nicer than the college area! Yeah, I was wrong and have really regretted the last two years. Where to start...
Let's just make one thing clear. The walls are very thin, and you can hear everything your neighbors do. I started in a bottom floor unit, and within a month I was to the brink of homicide because of my lovely urban neighbors above me. Stomp stomp stomp. Luckily, a pipe exploded and within an hour my entire unit was under (literally) 6 inches of water. Aside from losing a few valuable items, I took advantage of the opportunity to move to an upper unit.
My first few months at the upper unit were fine. Then summer came and the A/C broke. First time took about 3-4 days to repair, and the second time was about 9. Now, 9 days in 90 degree heat in an Upper unit makes for a very miserable time. I remember checking the thermometer at 3am one night and it was 92 degrees. I had to send my family to another place until it was finished.
Another warning: as summer comes, so do the bugs. Ants, the little cockroaches, etc. Seriously, they must have completely taken over inside the walls. We kept the house clean and they just kept coming for both summers.
So, now we get to the worst part. About the same time, beside us and below us move in two groups of obnoxious, loud and aggressive hillbilly-types. It got REAL bad. A few other units and I began to complain, but it took multiple complaints and a few visits by the police before management took any real action. Finally, the ones beside us were booted (or they just stopped paying rent, who knows). But the same people who partied beside us just started partying in the unit below us.
Can you imagine trying to put a toddler and newborn to sleep with the people right below you blasting music/bass, jumping, dancing and FIGHTING' Yeah. I finally went down there and banged on the door. When they opened up, it looked like a disco in there. I asked him to break up the party, and they did. About a week later they were back in full swing though. Luckily about 4-5 months into this ordeal two of the troublemakers left.
Now all I have to deal with is their non-stop door slamming and stomping (thin walls/floors). That in itself is annoying enough to make someone miserable, but considering the crap I had to deal with I welcomed it!!! So, management does take action, but not until everyone is miserable and enough people summon the balls to complain multiple times.
A quick note: Although I am obviously not a fan of this place, I do give the maintenance team props (aside from the A/C incident) for usually handling business on time.
Back to the nit and grit. Right in the middle of the complex has turned into a nightly scene from the Fast and the Furious. EVERY night now there are 3-4 jazzed up Hondas with racing engines and a few crotch rockets. They hang out there and work on their cars (against the lease), REV their engines and let them surge for 10-20 minutes at a time. Keep in mind that racing engines are pretty loud, especially when you add obnoxious mufflers. I ve already heard a few people yell at them to shut the hell up, myself included. I called management but there has been no action yet. VROOM VROOM VROOM A lot of people have been rolling around very slowly and just blasting their bass too wtf' I am a very patient and understanding man by nature, but my experiences here have really changed me as a person. It can be that bad.
One final note: Safety has steadily declined all over the complex. Lighting is too low by the dumpster and towards the back of the complex, so much that I pack heat if I take trash out when it s dark. Both a neighbor and I have had our CD players stolen from our cars within the last 3 months. When I pull into the complex after work now, I am greeted to a bunch of hoods just standing around and staring at me. I guess some peoples only goal in life is to loaf around and be unproductive. You will find this type of person here in growing numbers. Seriously, things are changing just as fast as the management changes. I give this place two thumbs DOWN. The only positive thing to come out of this place is my newfound motivation to succeed so well in my career that I can by a nice quiet house, far away from anything else.
