Disgusting and Embarrassing

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
When I was in the process of looking for an apartment in Tallahassee, my priorities included, 1. distance to campus 2. facilities and 3. cost of rent. I had several friends in several "popukar" apartments paying more than $500 a month and I thought I would branch out and look for a different place. My future roommates and I looked around and when we came across University Grove, now Down Under, it was close to school, low in rent and decent in facilities. I even brought my boyfriend to take a look at their model apartment. The model was clean and decorated nicely. However, the staff apoligetically told us that there were no models of the 3 bedroom 3 bathroom we were looking to lease, which meant we saw an apartment that was completely different from what we were looking to rent. Running out of time, we signed the lease.
When I moved in August of 2005, I was horrified, disgusted, and already thinking of ways I could get out of my lease. It was absolutely filthy inside. There was grease all over the kitchen cabinets and the carpet was stained and ripped. The furniture was hardly what we expected and the rooms were very small. As my mom and I began to move in my things, there was an OBNOXIOUS party outside by the pool that looked like gang members and crack dealers had decided to throw a party. Again, I was HORRIFIED. I thought by making it my own place it would get better but it didnt.
I ended up basically living at my boyfriends place and going into Down Under as infrequently as possible. It was EMBARRASSING to say that I lived there and downright TRAUMATIZING. I can't urge you enough to stay as far away as possible from this HELL HOLE. The new management tried to revamp the place but FAILED MISERABLY. Down Under, the facilities, management and overall structure and function of the complex is DISPICABLE. Do not under any circumstances lease an apartment from these people, they will circumvent at all opportunities to convince you that it is a decent place to live. the bottom line is that it is GROSSLY MANAGED and MAINTAINED.
