Not worth it, very uncomfortable place

Worst place I?ve ever lived. The rule here is if you don?t get the top floor, you will be miserable. We didn?t want to carry groceries, etc. up stairs, so we opted for ground level. It has been very uncomfortable.
Rent is very high for what you get.
Most annoying:
1. Noise--There is NO soundproofing. Do not get a downstairs unit. You will never sleep. You can hear every move they make including the plumbing! Also the windows are so cheap that you can hear everything outside and this complex is located on a very busy street.
2.Lighting: If you are on the ground level--Bring lamps! Only one of our ceiling fans has a light kit (in the 3rd BR). So, no overhead lights. And ceilings are LOW, LOW, LOW in the ground floor units. They will never show you a ground floor unit when you visit--because no one would rent one if they saw it first. We assumed we would have overhead lighting, because that is what we saw in the 2nd floor units they showed us.
3. No linen closets!! (3 BR unit). And no shelves in bathroom for towels either. Only 2 standard towel bars. We have to keep our sheets, towels in our clothes closets.
4. Garbage. There is one large garbage compactor located at the ENTRANCE to the complex. Then, recycling is located at the REAR in the opposite direction. Most people drive their garbage out every morning as you have to go through or cross in front of the entrance to dispose of garbage. Also it seems to break down at least a couple of times a month, and so there is often piles of refuse around it. People also dump unwanted furniture, etc. beside it when moving. These items tend to remain about a week before being hauled off. And this is at the FRONT entrance. Tacky, tacky, tacky.
Layout: Master bathroom in 3 BR is odd shaped, extremely small. Door opens inward, you have to back up to the tub to open the door. We had to remove a cabinet handle or door wouldn?t pass by! Low ceiling painted same color as walls. Like being in a box.
In 3BR unit, Master bedroom opens directly into living room.
KITCHEN: "Gourmet kitchen" has mini-microwave (sticker says 1986), small fridge but lots of counter space. 10 electrical outlets in 8 x 8 kitchen seems excessive. While there is only one outlet in each bathroom! Sinks are very shallow. Our appliances are oldish. Cabinets are particle board type. Cheap, cheap, cheap looking. Dryer has two temperatures: VERY HOT and "SHRINK IT." I do not use the dryer at all anymore for clothes. I?ve had too many things ruined.
AMBIANCE: Ugly sprinkler heads in each ceiling make you feel like you are living in a hotel. There is also some sort of red fire alarm plate thing in the wall of LR.
Walls are oddly textured and countertops are very cheap/ugly. Ours also has really thick nasty looking yellowish caulking around all edges. (Again, cheap, cheap looking!)
Living space: Kitchen, LR, DR, laundry are are basically all one room separated by a countertop. DR area very small!! You can?t really "cook" in the "gourmet" kitchen unless you want the entire house to have that aroma. Also, when laundry, dishwasher are running, it is not possible to enjoy doing anything in the LR due to the noise level.
MAINTENANCE:
Linoleum in our kitchen is torn in several places. They replaced LR carpet before we moved in and painted. As far as I could tell, that was all that was done. Kitchen was filthy--especially under stove top!
They do NOTHING to upkeep the outside of the units. Mildew, dirt, Spider webs, wasps nests, etc. abound! Interior walkways are not swept/maintained.
OTHER: Parking lot is very hilly, and odd angled. Hard to park. Grounds are steep and hilly, I feel like I need mountain climbing gear to get to and from mailbox.
RESIDENTS: Temporary living. A lot of lobbyists rent these during the Session. Seems to cater to corporate or temporary residents. Most people are living here are either ON THE WAY to somewhere else or they have a REAL home somewhere else. Not many students live here, but some do. If you are unlucky enough to get them for neighbors you will hate every minute. Management takes a hands off approach to handling noise, complaints, etc.
GOOD POINTS:
Location is great. Very convenient to shopping, restaurants, the Interstate, major roads, etc. Houses nearby go for $400K and up.
Apartments are pretty big.
Porches are nice, but most ground level apts. do not have them.
Nice solid doors throughout, including closets. Walk-in closets are large, but shelving is minimal.
Staff is nice.
Online maintenance requests.
GARAGE: We got the deluxe garage and It?s very big. However, outside elements and critters can get in. Not sealed around door. Not for long-term storage of boxes, or anything that will ruin but OK for bikes, etc. Guarantees you a parking place, though! Get the small one. It will be all you need.
Club House is beautiful. Pond w/fountain is nice. Pool is nice but small and 4 feet deep.
Fitness Room: Very small and not much equip. They could use another Treadmill and just get rid of most of the other stuff because that seems to be what everyone wants to use. Racquetball court is inside the fitness center behind plexiglass walls, so it is very noisy if someone is playing while you are working out.
