Years at this apartment: 1999 - 2000
I lived at Jackson Square for a year (1999-2000) as a college student, but most of the tenants are young professionals. The complex is in the Killearn area of Tallahassee, which is the more up-scale part of town and far away from all of the universities (not more than a fifteen or twenty minute drive to campus though). The price is on the high end for Tallahassee (at the time I lived there it was one of the newer/nicer complexes in town), but worth the money. We lived on the second floor in between two other apartments but rarely had any noise problems (occasional barking dogs). The staff is nice and the maintenance guys are especially helpful - we had a recurring toilet clogging problem and they always came right over to fix it. As far as bugs go, we had a bit of an ant infestation when we moved in, but they sent a pest control service over the next day to take care of it. The only continuous problems I had were parking and the entrance gate. Unless you pay for a garage, you don't have an assigned space, meaning you usually can't park very close to your apartment, and they don't require passes for guests. Also, make sure you get a remote for the gate when you move in, otherwise you are stuck pulling up to a machine to punch in a code which isn't exactly convenient. Overall my experience living at Jackson Square was a good one.
