Nice People, No Major Problems

Just a little FYI that management changed at Longleaf right before I moved, but this has been my experience living there:

Overall, I have enjoyed my 1 1/2 years of living here. For the most part the people living here are friendly and the office staff is very nice and professional. Under the old management, the office manager knew my name and would always say hi to me when I was out and about. I haven’t had much interaction with the office staff under new management, but the new maintenance man is very courteous.

As you can imagine, I had some things break here and there in my 1 1/2 years of living at Longleaf (the buildings are pretty old). In the beginning I had some trouble because I would just go tell them something was wrong and then they would forget to send someone out. However, once I started making sure I wrote out my maintenance requests, pretty much everything was fixed in less than a week. Only once did I have to wait longer than a week to get something fixed and they gave me $25 off my rent for the inconvenience!!

I have never had any trouble with parking here and the location is unbeatable (walking distance to FSU and 1 block from bus routes 3, 15, and 23 - 2 of which take you right to TCC). Additionally, I like the fact that even though we are close to campus there is a good diversity of people living here (not just a bunch of college students).

Really the only thing I didn't like about Longleaf is the lack of upkeep. Maintenance seems to make sure everything works in everyone's apartment, but I think my carpet had lived through about 7 different tenants before I ever moved in. The cabinets and such were pretty dinged up in my unit and I had trouble keeping things plugged into my electrical sockets because there were old and wouldn’t hold the plug in anymore.

Update: I got my full deposit back when I moved out, which is really amazing because I didn’t have time to clean the place at all. The big thing was I didn’t get the carpet professionally cleaned like you are supposed to. But I knew they were changing out the carpet after I left so it seemed pretty stupid to get it cleaned. I guess they agreed with me! (One more plus for Longleaf.)
