Don't rent here

Meridian Place used to be a great place to live, until they changed management. Then, many things that we used to like about the place changed. For example, the water is often turned off without warning, and for many hours at a time. Parking used to be easy (we only had one car), but many nights now it is hard to find a spot. Another time, both laundry rooms were shut down without warning for several days. In addition, the laundry rooms are often filthy. Another frustrating thing was that the management decided to replace our door (I don't know why; it was a perfectly fine door). It took literally MONTHS to get them to put the apt. #'s on the door, and they never did paint the backside of the door or put weatherstripping on it or add a peephole (not particularly safe). Furthermore, the utilities are extremely high - even in months where the A/C is not run at all, they would still be over $100 for a 1/1. And, after our second year there, they began charging additional rent ($15 extra per month) for being on the second floor - not an original part of the lease.
One other thing - rent is due on the first of the month with no exceptions. If you turn it in after 9 a.m. on the 2nd, it is considered late. One time we lost track of the date and were actually served notice within two days. This seems rather ridiculous.
The worst thing of all, though, is that after giving due notice of our plans to vacate, they have tried to claim a month's rent beyond our lease, as well as charging additional utilities and "accelerated rent." These people just don't care, and will look for any way that they think they can find to screw you over.

I just moved in here a few months ago and I live in a 1 bedroom. I think the Management is very good. I've never had the water turned off. I live near the office where parking is tighter and I've never had a problem. I use the laundry and it has never been dirty. In fact I see the lady in there cleaning every morning. It's been hot in this area and my electric is high but so are my other friends who live here and also at other apts in town. That's not the apts. fault. Don't know about your othr problems but I like it here a lot. The maintenance is good and the office ladies very helpful and nice.

How wonderful for the management that every time someone posts a concern, issue, grievance, etc, almost immediately someone springs forth to refute it. Coincidence, perhaps? It seems the people who are content in their little space think it unreasonable for anyone else to have higher expectations for what is or is not acceptable. It's not the apartment's fault when the utility bills are high? When there is no weather stripping around the front door; and you can see daylight at the top and bottom of the door; and the windows are warped and let the heat/AC out; honey, it's not the tenant's fault either. But everyone needs to remember: there are over 200 apartments at Meridian Place. Most people who are unhappy will eventually move out. And in the past 2 years, a lot of tenants who had lived there for years left. So, Jenjon, if your're happy and have no complaints, then bless your little ol' heart. But just because you are, doesn't mean eveyone else is or should be.

I think the reason people are refuting negative reviews is because hmm I don't know, they disagree? No one's trying to prove anyone wrong as everyone is entitled to their opinion but by the same token the people who actually like living here are entitled to their own opinion as well. I for one have never had an issue and on average I pay $80-$100 total for utilities in a 2/2 which I think is pretty darn good compared to other places I've lived. But from what you're describing, your apartment seems like it needs some work done. It would surprise me if you've made a genuine effort to a) check out your apartment before you actually moved in to make sure there's nothing that needs to be fixed/replaced like the door and windows and b) request maintenance to do something about it since of the very few times I've ever had to request maintenance, they have always been very quick and responsive.
