When I moved to Tallahassee from DC a year and a half ago The Reserve was the first place I visited. I remember the apartment representative that showed me around. She said "you might as well go ahead and move-in." She said that because she believed I would end up coming back after I looked at other places...and I did. 18 months later I'm happy I did.
I am a 24 year old young man studying at FSU at the time. I was looking for a place that was nice, but far enough away from the West side of the city. I stayed in Phase 2 (I don't know if this recommendation would apply for Phase 1) and I loved it. The place was quiet and the people were cordial. However, we all know that the staff of an apartment can make or break your experience. There were a few minor maintenance issues that happened during my apartment stay, but each time the staff responded quickly and efficiently.
I would caution one not to stay on the bottom floor if you can. During a major rain storm last year water got into my apartment and the complex has to send out a Serv-Pro equivalent to access the damage to several effected units. I ended up having to have an industrial fan put into my apartment for about 2 weeks. The water was in the dining room, but it didn t primarily around the wall. With the fan in that area of the apartment I couldn't do anything in that area without being disturbed by the noise. However, after speaking with the manager about the problem and some negotiations I was able to get reimbursed for any electricity the fan used and pay a reduced rent the next month.
The above-referenced experience was the most negative thing that happened during 18 months of living at The Reserve. I love the pools, tennis court, gym, and concierge desk that offers free copying and a fax machine. The place was also quiet and family friendly. I definitely miss friendly, gregarious nature of the maintenance men. Those guys are the biggest asset to the whole community in my opinion. I would definitely recommend The Reserve to my friends.

Quiet? You must not be next to dogs or the pool.. or you are in phase 2. I USED to be a dog lover until I moved here.
