I have lived in some run-down apartments, from Washington D.C. to Los Angeles, on the way to college and medical school. NEVER before have I dealt with a less professionally run company than Student Housing Solutions. My sincere recommendation to anyone reading this is to stay away. This is a poor company, even when compared to other student housing complexes in Tallahassee. Here is a brief summary of what happened to me.

In the summer of 2004, one of my roommates sublet his room to two females. Neither of them were students, nor had any friends that were students. Their "friends" were essentially a catalog of criminals on parole and probation, who came by at all hours of day and night, smoked relentlessly in the apartment, and played music at deafening levels, at any time that they pleased.

The music was routinely so loud that no one other than I could hear people banging on the door in the middle of the night, seven nights per week. One night I got out of bed, answered the door, and told one of the men on the other side to go away and not come back. He entered the apartment with his friend, got within centimeters of my face, and threatened my life in the presence of both of the girls who had by then made it to the door.

After the police arrived, both of the girls predictably denied that anything had happened. Although I filed a report and showed it to the leasing office, they refused to relocate the girls. After weeks of phone calls and letters I hired an attorney, after which Student Housing Solutions fulfilled its "legal" obligation to protect my safety by moving the girls into the apartment directly across from mine! How kind of them! My girlfriend and I underwent constant harrassment and threats from that time until we moved out of Tuscany.

Here's a final message to anyone at Student Housing Solutions who reads this summary. I will never forget the three months of living hell that you put me and my family through, and the way that you recklessly jeopardized our safety. From now until the end of time, I will take advantage of every opportunity to warn others who may be thinking of doing business with you, so that they may avoid making such a big mistake. Every class that I taught at FSU, I made sure to warn my students about your company. In every forum that I can find, I will tell the world about your disgraceful company. The thing that hurts you the most is that I am not some half-wit disgruntled student that can barely write, but a medical student at one of the best schools in the country. When I tell people about your company, I successfully convince them not to do business with you. So how do you like me now, Mr. Pathetic C.O.O. at the rundown office across the street, who was too much of a coward to meet with me when I stood right outside your door' When you put your cheap suit on and drive to work tomorrow, I hope you think a little bit harder about the decisions you make with regard to the safety of the kids so many parents entrust you to protect. Of course, its probably a bit naive of me to hope that you would think of anything other than the bottom line, which is obviously the one and only priority at Student Housing Solutions.
