Rental: Twin Oaks at Southwood

Pros:
??Walk to restaurant and great coffee/sandwich/ice cream shop, YMCA, hair salon and there are a lot of paved walkways/trails.
??Most neighbors really nice
??Apartments are spacious and flow well
??Full size kitchen appliances
??Good closet space
??Separate laundry room with full sized W/D
??Fantastic tubs
??Nice stone tile in bathrooms and Pergo type flooring in kitchen and entry
??Bus service just started to the area
??Some employees incredibly helpful and nice, others unfortunately are not
??Exterminator very nice
Cons:
??Worst is the noise from the pipes. We hear everything, and I do mean everything that happens in our upper neighbors?? toilets almost as if it is magnified. We also hear the water crashing through the pipes from their sink and shower and can tell when people are shaving from the ??tap, tap, tap?? on their sink, when they??ve dropped a bar of soap, etc??. Let me tell you it??s a real treat to be awakened at 3am every morning to what sounds like someone peeing over your head. It??s also embarrassing to have house guests stay over and have them be awakened by the bathroom above them.
??Other noise, typical TV/Stereo, appliances, bathroom fans, doors closing, people going up and down stairs and hard soled shoes on the tile or kitchen. Other than that, the apt is fairly quiet.
??Fast construction, walls, doorways windows, etc?? not always even or straight. Some walls are painted so thin you can see the drywall and or construction markings and notes beneath, and some were painted so thick that there are large dried paint drips that run down the wall. Our personal apartment had chipped paint on most corners and was not really cleaned from the last tenant.
??Some neighbors do not pick up their dog waste, creating smelly, dirty grass areas and sidewalks and making it difficult to get into your car or to enjoy the grass anywhere in the complex let alone in your own ??front yard.??
??Some of our neighbors think nothing of turning on their dishwasher or clothes washer at night, which is quite loud, and our upstairs neighbor recently vacuumed their whole apartment starting at 11:30 at night while we had houseguests trying to sleep.
??Only one garbage dump for the whole complex. The compacting mechanism is very loud and on a warm day the garbage really stinks.
??During weekdays there is a lot of traffic along Merchant??s Row and all the parking fills up on the street from the employees of the State buildings. Daily, there are near accidents along Merchant??s Row from people trying to get onto or cross the street. Lot??s of horn honking and loud car stereos during the day.
??Have to pay an advance cleaning fee of $175, for paint touch up, etc. but our apartment was only partially cleaned when we moved in and management did nothing for us. This is the only apartment complex I have ever heard of that charged a fee like this.
