Liars & Thieves
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 6/16/2007
Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2007
I lived here for 3 and a half years and things were good until the complex was sold in the summer of 2006. They have had 2 management companies since the place was sold and both management companies don't seem to be worth a damn. The Lynd Company is the second management company that took over at the beginning of January '07.
My building had a few slab leaks (next door and myself had 2 each) in less than 2 months. The first leak took a week to get fixed. The second one they told me they were trying to get someone out to fix it, but two days later they want to move me to another apartment. The apartment the wanted to put me was disgusting, so, I refused it. I found out later that they were looking to repipe the complex. So, I'm guessing they didn't want to pay to a plumber to fix my second leak since they were supposedly repiping the place. Oh yeah, my second leak was my hot water line. So, I had no hot water for about 3 weeks until I moved out.
I was given the option to break my lease with no penalty, which, I have. Although, I wouldn't be suprised if the put it on my credit report. However, it's going on 3 months since I've been out and I have yet to receive my deposit back. It had been about a month before I started inquiring about my deposit. Now everytime I go by or call, I get a different excuse. I was told under the circumstances that I would get my deposit back in full and be prorated for any part of the month I wasn't in there. After 2 months of excuses I call the corporate office and found out at some point I was not down to get my deposit back. The person I spoke with told me she would send it out that day, but two weeks later I have still not seen my deposit or the prorated amount I was told I would get back.
Dealing with the new management company and resident manager has been a miserable experience since moving out. And whatever you do do not trust anything the resident manager says because all she does is lie and make excuses. The corporate office doesn't seem to be any better.
If you need to contact the coporate office the info is below. Although, I'm not sure it will do any good. Since my initial contact with the corporate office I have not even been able to get in contact with the girl I initially talked with and I've only been able to get the receptionist once and that's been over the last two weeks now.

As far as I'm concerned Windrush Village & The Lynd Company are liars & thieves.
*Update*
Well, after 3 and half months I finally got my depsoit back in full, but this is from me calling corporate and Windrush once or twice a week. Of course, I have yet to recieve the prorated amount I was also promised. So, now I consider them just liars & partial thieves. ;)
