In a nutshell, property is great... but the layout and landscaping is IDENTICAL to every other apt. complex in Tampa.
Problem'' MANAGEMENT! My boyfriend and I always pay our rent in the middle of the month for the next month...it's a habit we have learned to do so we are never late. A couple of months ago, 3 days into the new month we received a notice that we were late on our rent. Since we knew there had to be some kind of confusion, we went to speak with someone in the office. KATHY (the former manager) informed us that we never paid and now we were responsible for the late fees. We explained the situation and she could have cared less. Now I understand all apts must deal with 1,001 excuses for late payments each month, but she wouldn't give us the time of day. My boyfriend and I decided we would simply write another check and the problem would be solved... as long as we could get a receipt and a written statement from Andover/Addison agreeing not to cash the original check if they came across it. Kathy, the manager, refused! She told us "that's whats wrong with young people today, they don't trust anyone." HELLO'' WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS REFUSES RECEIPTS'' Needless to say, we tried to contact our bank to put a stop-payment on the first check but the bank was closed for the day, so when we went to the office the following day to give Kathy the new check she had the audacity to question why we didn't give her the check the previous day and alluded to the reason being that "we must not have had the rent money afterall."!!!! We called up corporate headquarters of the Sentinel Co (in NY) and explained what happened.. they were wonderful! I also told Sentinel how I overheard Kathy and other front office staff talking negatively about tenants because I assume they didn't realize I was in the office (I was in the tenant computer room which is right next to their offices). The office staff and Kathy were discussing how some tenants apts had been broken into and the tenants were requesting new locks on their doors. Kathy outright called the tenants "cheapasses" because the tenants chose not to activate their security alarms (which costs additional money per month for the service). Sentinel couldn't believe what they were being told and even said that they had no record of any break-ins, something Andover/Addison is REQUIRED to report. Sentinel also inquired about the area of Tampa (b/c they are in NY) and said Kathy had told them that it is a "poor area" with "a lot of crime"-- anyone knows NEW TAMPA = MONEY!! We also informed Sentinel that the front "security gates" had only worked 4 times during an 8 month span, which Kathy blamed on "corporate" for "not allowing them the money to fix the gates." I guess that was the icing on the cake. They apologized for Kathy, and she was "let go" 2 days later after an investigation into her unethical, unprofessional, business practices.
Be aware of Sara (assistant manager)- she's a mini Kathy, just as grumpy and hating of her own life... and I always thought Satan had no children. How wrong I was.

I've lived in Andover Place for about 2 years and she is correct; the "gates" are hardly ever functioning. It's actually just a wooden bar that goes up and down. People always just drive right through it, and the bar just gets snapped off like a twig. They should invest the money repairing the wooden bar to get a real iron security gate.

I LIVED IN A GATED ( BIG IRON GATES )APT. COMMUNITY IN WESTCHASE AND THEY PROBABLY WORKED 3 MONTHS OUT OF THE 12 I LIVED THERE.TENANTS WERE COUGHT ON TAPE TRYING TO BEAT THE GATE BECAUSE THEY FORGOT THEIR ACCESS CARD. WE HAD CARS BROKEN INTO AND CARS STOLEN TOO...IT'S EVERYWHERE AND WESTCHASE AINT THE HOOD!
