I am FINALLY out of this place!

After years of being "stuck" in this apartment complex...I am finally out. I had a 3 bedroom apartment. The size was terrific. But don't let ANYTHING go wrong with the apartment. No one will help you.
1). There are termite infestations. We had wings everywhere. From the master bedroom to the living room. They sent out an exterminator who stuck a few needles in the wall and called it a day. That's all they did. Management said they were going to have the building tented. Never happened. That was back in 2000.
2). The mold is horrendous! I was wondering where I was getting my headaches from. There was a leak from the bathtub upstairs so maintenance had to replace my ceiling above the shower. They left the 4' x 4' hole for an entire month (I could actually see the tub bottom of the bathtub in the apartment above me). Within those walls above was an inch of mold. Everywhere. Even on the tub bottom above. After a month of the hole being open )they said it had to "air out"...they replaced the ceiling. But left the dry wall all over the tiles and the tub and the toilet. It was everywhere.
3). Our air conditioner never blew in 2 of the bedrooms. No one could fix it. The AC also would freeze over at night. That would mean we had to cut the air off for 3 to 4 hours while it defrosted. In 90 degree weather. The maintenance man said it was the coils that needed replaced. We never saw him again. Even after I called incessantly for weeks.
4). I moved in and was promised that the carpeting would be shampooed. Never happened. Every year I signed a new lease I was promised new carpeting (since the carpeting was used and spotted when I moved in). Never happened.
5). The outside of the building was deplorable. The electric meter storage doors were hanging ajar. One was ripped off it's hinges and just lying in the grass. Mold and mildew all over the siding. Security lights are out all over the place. At night..the parking lot is dark. The light outside of my apartment door was out for 6 months. It was STILL out when I left the apartment. Made it difficult to answer the door at night since I couldn't see who was knocking.
6). One of the amenities was the "security alarm" which I think is necessary in that complex. The management cut that amenity off back in August. After the security alarm was no longer a feature, I would come home to find things missing in my apartment. Not little things. Items such as my DVD player and DVD movies.
7). The property is dirty. Trash everywhere. I see people walking around with garbage pails and sticks to pick up garbage, but they were too busy talking to the guys "doing business" in the parking lot. Sure...it's a GATED community...but the gates only work 30% of the time. Thank God there are huge gaps in the fence where you can walk in and out of or you couldn't get in or out.
8). I hope you don't want to go swimming in one of the three pools. The pools are so disgusting and nasty. They are truly a health hazard and should be shut down. I think the pool inspector (he said his name is Sal) must be taking bribes. There is NO WAY these pools should remain open with the algae buildup. No one maintains the pools. At all. In my years of being at this complex...I only saw a pool cleaner 4 times. No joke.
9). The management only wants to get you into their complex. Once in...you're on your own. Don't call anyone for help. You're not going to get it. In October...the management was changed AGAIN (this had to be the 10th time in 3 years). I had been paying by credit card. I was told that the credit card system wouldn't be available and that they would call me when the system would be back up. It was okay for me to be late since "they knew the situation" wasn't my fault. Instead...I got a late notice. When I called to ask why...I couldn't get anyone but a rude lady who had a heavy spanish accent. I was then served eviction papers. Which is fine since I was breaking the lease anyway.
I have HAD it. The place is a ghetto. Even the people from the ghetto were calling us a ghetto. That's how bad this place is. Do yourself a favor....don't rent from the Remington. I now live in a MUCH better complex with the same space for cheaper rent. AND...the management here at the new place actually smile.
