I have lived here since February 1996. In 1997 a fence was erected and crime has steadily increased ever since. It may be just a coincidence, but you be the judge:

The pedestrian gates [there are 4], as well as the two main gates, are always being vandalized and in need of repair. Within a month after the gates are repaired, they need to be repaired again. This has gone on since the fence was erected. It has been about a year since it was last repaired, with no indication from Management as to when, or even *if* it is ever going to be repaired.

This property has been sold 3 times in the last 3 years. (Talk in upper management is that it is being prepped for resale again)

I have watched as one Property Management Team has been replaced by another. We are now on the 7th Property Management Team to run this property. The Office Staff pretty much ignores anything you report to them and they often fail to notify Maintenance about a problem, until you have pestered them for several days in a row, and sometimes not even then.

I have never had a complaint lodged against me by a neighbor. However, I have lodged many complaints about my neighbors when they continually violated the peace and tranquility I am entitled to under the Terms of my Lease Agreement. I otherwise, mind my own business and try to help the Property Management Team keep the Property in good working order. Unfortunately, they don't listen to me.

My advice for you, is to keep looking, because, if I could afford to move, I would. But I am on a fixed income. Ashford Place is not currently Section Eight and does not currently base rent on a sliding scale income. But I would not be surprised if that happens eventually.

Parking is limited on weekends. We have one trash compactor located near the center of the property, which is almost always overflowing with un-compacted garbage, replete with maggots and flies. And it usually stinks very badly. There are several stray Cats and a few Raccoons that dig through the un-compacted trash, spreading it around as they forage for scraps left in the trash bags, that residents throw out. Most residents do not put their trash bags inside the Trash Compactor which adds to the lack of sanitation.

There have been two electrical fires that have caused internal damage to the buildings they started in. The fires were contained, but the damage was extensive.

We have a Crime Watch (CW) that meets once a month. However, it has failed to meet for the last two months (February & March). It began early last year (2006) and met once a month without a hitch. That was when the Property was owned by Westdale Asset Management.

In September of 2006, the Property was sold to Greystar, and we had one meeting in January 2007. Not one Crime Watch meeting has taken place since January 2007. Instead, the Property Management Team gives us one excuse after another; saying that the Crime Watch Meetings will be held before the end of the month. The first time they promised that, it was February, 2007. They promised again in March, 2007. I will have to wait until April, 2007 to see if they put it off yet again.

The Property Management Team is *Greystar*. Every Property Management Team that has worked this property has made the same set of promises, yet has failed consistently to keep those promises.

When Greystar took over as the Property Management Team for Ashford Place (formerly The Remington), they re-roofed all the buildings. They also tore up most of the trees and grass. It looks like a nuclear bomb went off in here. Almost everything looks dead.

All of the apartment buildings have bright safety lights on the side of the building, facing the parking lot, but most of those lights don't work, creating dark spots and areas where a mugger could wait (out in the open) to take you by surprise.

Inadequate lighting at night also becomes hazardous when walking around on the property; because of loose debris, pieces of sharp metal, and broken glass in those same dark areas, and uneven sidewalks (one slab of the sidewalk is elevated away from -and at an angle to- the adjacent slab of sidewalk) and you have a situation ripe for accidents.

If these problems don't sound bad to you, then welcome to the neighborhood.

If you are so disappointed with the management and the property, then why have you lived there for 11 years?

I believe the writer said they were on a fixed income and financially unable to move. I think I'll look into Greystar management.
