I lived at these apartments for almost 4 years and I have seen it go from average to bad to worse. I originally choose to move there because I liked that each apartment had a security system and the community was gated not to mention it matched my budget. Since that time they have gotten rid of the security systems and the gate almost never works- granted if they didn't have residents that ran into the gate and broke it the gate would have worked more of the time. I will have agree that if residents controlled their kids and cared about the place in which they lived that things would be much better. The maintenence is not bad, there is just too much for the skeleton crew to handle. I have seen the office staff change several times due to the amount of problems the complex has-I would not want to be in their shoes. The apartments are old and are in need of major upgrades. I did not have a problem with rodents, just termites...and it took me almost 4 years to get them to do anything about it. My childrens' bikes were stollen on a couple of occasions and the side window of my car was broken. The walls are very thin so you can easily hear all that goes on around you. I have finally moved out and have never been happier.

I have lived at *Ashford Place* apartments since 1996. When I moved in, there was no gate/fence, the property was safer (before the fence went up) and the property was called *Foxfire*.
A month after moving in, the apartment complex was sold to "South Star Equity" and managed by "Brookside Properties". It was re-named *The Remington*.
A year after we moved in, the Gate went up. With-in a month of the Gate going up, a car was stolen. The crime rate has fluctuated since, but is on the decline (according to Police reports)
After a lawsuit was brought against the owner: "North Star Equity", by a former resident who had been kidnapped at gun point (while on the property) and threatened with her life, the property was sold again and run by "Westdale Asset Management". It remained in their care for one year before being sold to its' current owners, who changed it's name to: *Ashford Place*.
Maintenence is weak due to a shortage of maintenece people, with only one man who actually knows what he is doing. There is a *Crime Watch* program in place here, and we used to hold monthly meetings, but the office seems to be blocking all efforts to continue to hold the meetings. So we are trying tomeet in one another's apartments to keep it going.
I try to be helpful and friendly with my neighbors, and a few are friendly in return. I'm not looking for gratitude, but I'd rather not get attitude either.
Anyway, if you are planning to move here, I don't recommend it. If I could move, I would. I simply can't afford a better place (unable to afford the higher costs associated with better quality living conditions).
With Black Mold growing in-between the walls, termite damage, water damage, poor insulation, noticable "Aromas" coming from adjacent apartments (yes, you can smell what they are cooking/smoking), paper thin walls that easily pass sound through them, a skelton crew for maintenence, and an indifferent Office Staff; I do not recommend moving here.
An unhappy resident since February 1st, 1996.
