Avalon Heights is one of the worst places to live ever. I and everyone I have known then and now to live ther has had issues there. Issues of safety, sanitation, and many more. I had leaking damage in my entire balcony wall inside my room. I requested it be fixed five times before someone came and painted over the mildew and water spots. Yes, I came home to a room spelling like fresh paint with a whole still in my wall where the water was leaking in. Someone broke out my back window to my car in daylight and Avalon was not resposible although it's a gated community. I payed for security. After being attacked by my roomate and her live in boyfriend because of my assumed sexual preference, Avalon would not let me switch apartments. They matched me with a girl who was on probation, she attempted to brake in my room 4 o'clock in the mourning and commited a hate crime towards me and I can't move to a different apartment complex without a fee. My safety was at risk and they did not care. Whenever I had any serious problems with the office they would only be resolved after my mother traveled four hours to address the office in person. They attempted to charge my friend almost $600 in damages and they refused to show her a copy of her move in sheet. When she presented them with her copy, they removed the charges because the damages were already there and had been billed to previous occupant. They then owed her $30 that they asked to write off after accussing her of owing them and not wanting to hear anything she had to say. They even billed her months later for phone charges that occured after she left the apartment. It took over 1 1/2 to find out that I wasn't getting my security deposit back and from a collection angency not Avalon. Avalon Heights never notified me of any
charges nor did they tell me why I wasn't getting my security deposit back. I moved out the apartment in July of 2005 and returned weekly for six months to find out about my deposit. I even returned sparatically in the beginning of 2006 (Jan. & Feb.). I was told several excuses each time as to why they did not have the information available.
That was just a brief overview of some of the personal issues I had with Avalon. Avalon also has major issues overall. They are horrible at picking up the trash. Big 20 gllon trash cans sit along the entrance to each apartment filled with smelly trash for entire weeks. Sometimes it seems like they forget and skip weeks of pick up. This is unattractive to guest entering your house as well as it smells horrendous. Requests for work to be done in your apt have to be put in several times before someone ever comes. Then when they come there is no ganrauntee anything will be fixed. The elevators are always broken and when I moved to the fourth floor it was awful walking. The security officers when around will hassle you for hanging in the parking lot walking your friends out to their car so they can leave, but when your car window gets smashed in no one saw anything.I know other people who live there recently and most of them have left Avalon or are still complaining. Nothing has changed there and they have switched management three times since I was living there. There are so many other horrors i could mention, but I will stop for now.
Seriously, this is not a place for anyone to live, I even knew someone who worked in the office who only stayed because their rent was free. This place is unsafe, unsanitary, disrespectful and will only cause you pain, suffering, time, money and effort. You will benefit nothing from living here you will only loose. Parents also loose out on their money, time and energy. If your child stays here you will hear countless complaints from your child, you will spend lots of money and you will spend lots of time trying to straighten matters with Avalon Heights. My advice, don't do it.
