I recently moved out of Balaye apartments after living there for more than a year and a half.
Depending on where you lived before, will undoubtedly bear a strong influence on your opinion of this complex.
Regarding roaches. I was an apartment manager for some 120 units. It is impossible to tell who the clean houesekeepers are when checking a potential application. It only takes one unsanitary neighbor to infest an entire building. After all, roaches and other vermin attracted to garbage and other waste do NOT come thru the front door. On several occasions we found young roaches in our complex. Always singular. Management was always quick to respond with the bug service technicians spraying the interior as required.
Keep your apartment dry, food tightly packaged and stored, and any wandering roaches will not hang around for long.
Regarding dog "deposits". Management can not be around 24/7 to monitor the bathroom habits of beloved pets. In fact it is my experinece that the folks who do not clean up after their dogs know exactly when to walk their dogs to avoid being caught. Monitoring your own neck of the woods is the best prevention. Be sure to say "Hello!!" in a nice loud voice from your apartment to let them know someone is watching. If that doesn't work, approach them with a plastic bag and ask if they need instructions on how to use it. As a last resort, report them to management.
The only qualm I had with management was the fact that when we moved out, they would not do a "walk thru" inspection after we cleaned up. Later, they stated that there were things left "unkempt" and we were to be charged $65.00. Also, when we gave notice, we told them that we would be moving out by the "first" of the next month. They then took that as license to charge us for an additional day, the "first" day of the month. When all we meant was that it would be empty at the end of the month.
Semantics' Perhaps... but I was disappointed they felt it was an appropriate action on their part.
Other than that, I would whole heartedly recommend this complex. Some are better, and you'll pay more. Others are worse and you'll pay less. But for the price, it was as good as any.
I would move back in, only I would make sure both parties are clear on all terms.
