This place does indeed have a bug problem. This is the second night in two weeks that I got woken up by some bug crawling on me in the middle of the night. But otherwise, I've been encountering them on a daily basis. Woke up yesterday morning and found two crawling in the kitchen sink. I almost always find one in the bathroom at night, after coming home from work, or before going to bed, or right after waking up.

It's not like I'm a dirty pig either. The last place I lived at didn't have this problem, and I could go easily an entire month without even seeing a bug. The first day I got here, I noticed some small baby roaches crawling in from under the baseboards in the bathroom. At that point, I knew there was going to be a problem...

I've tried to deal with it however I could. I don't leave trash laying around, and food is always put away into air-tight containers in the fridge when meals are over. I even wash all my pans, dishes and utensils immediately after cooking/eating in order to reduce unwanted attention. Notice I way reduce, because no matter what I do, the bugs don't seem to understand there's nothing of value for them here. The only nutrition they might find is some water in the pipes, so I guess that's why they stick around.

It is currently the middle of summer, so the heat and humidity are probably a factor. However, Balaye has dropped the ball, as they didn't have their pest control people come and spray the apartments within the last month (even though the charged showed up on my bill). In fact, they didn't even leave their monthly maintenance request forms on the front door handles like they normally do.

It doesn't cost a ton of money to be proactive against bugs, so I don't understand why they don't strive to make things a little better. I'd really like to at least be able to sleep through the night. This isn't exactly the quietest place in the world -- check the map and you'll see there's a shopping center and two adjacent roads, with lots of Harley bikes going to/from the nearby bar (if you're desperate enough to rent here, just make sure you don't end up on the outer edges of the compound).

Well it's now 4am so I'm going to try to get some rest, as I do have to go to work tomorrow. And just think: without working, I cannot pay rent. But if I'm unable to rest at night, then my work performance suffers. I wonder if this makes any sense to Balaye'
