The worst 13 months of my life...I wouldn't live there again even if they offered a year's worth of free rent!

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
I felt like I was living in the projects. The area is so bad that I've seen so many beautiful homes by the river/behind the apartment complex that have for sale signs on them. I guess the people there wanted to sell and get out before the property value goes down. Who wants to pay for an expensive house in a bad area where you don't feel safe and who wants to be told that because of the area's bad reputation that your house isn't worth anything more but less than what you bought it for' I most certainly wouldn't,would you' It used to be a nice area, but not anymore! The area is ghetto and if you're not used to living in an apartment complex where you'll get your cars broken into more than once, bad parking in some spots,Dark areas, people who look like thugs hanging outside and basically knowing when you're coming or going, seeing streeet fights among neighbors that can't get along, nutty neighbors(Nikisha),viewing random police visits for residents involoved in drug related activity, helicopters flying over the complex to find fugitives running hiding in the complex because it's not gated and loud neighbors...especially at night and the weekends, then don't live at Brookside! Whatever you do if decide to jump the gun and live there, don't get your apartment near the pool because there is noise non stop during the day and night! If your apartment is near the pool, the splashing from people jumping in it is so bad that it sounds like someone is hitting up against the outside wall of the apartment. The only time that pool was quiet was when they closed it due to the Bad health violation reports it received. You can find the article in the St.Pete Times(Newspaper) Archives. (Article:"Good Clean Fun'" Published on July 6,2003)I found that out by the girl who also moved out who I will mention later on. It was shut down all summer and if I remember clearly, it was reopened in Sept/October. I know that when I first lived there and was looking for the laundry room and found out that it was removed due to the small space to place the appliances, The room was full of manure, smell of urine and dirty. One of the maintenance people told me that some pre-teens & teenage kids used that room to have sex in on a regular basis! After the violations, they cleaned up that room, boarded it up and used it to place washers/dryers/stoves that aren't working in there. I almost forgot to tell you how ridiculous it is that they charge you $5 for a laundry card, then you have to put money on it because I found out that when I tried to use the card, the $5 dollars wasn't included on the card so I had to add $5 to deposit in it and how the dryers don't work right. There were times that if you put the dryer on high to dry the clothes,55 minutes later, the clothes would still be damp! The washers were a pain and there were 2 instances where the card took my money but didn't do the wash or the dry and I had to report it to the office. You have to go to the laundry room by the office or across the street because there is not one in the back anymore. What a big rip off! When school is out, you better watch out for your car being stolen there too because the gates don't work and your car will get broken into, stolen, or both! Your odds of getting your car stolen and/or broken into are very high. I'm going to say that for every ten cars, seven will get broken into. Just drive around in the parking lot and look at how many cars you'll see that have tape, newspaper, or cardboard covering where the window was broken in at or better yet, ask some of the residents themselves if either them or their neighbors have had their cars damaged and see what kind of answer(s) you'll get. There's no need to report it to the Manager's office because they'll only tell you that "If it's not Brookside's property, then it's not their concern." That's what they told my sister and possibly other residents when they found out about their cars. My sister had her car broken into twice and the bums broke out my sister's back window and ripped out some cheap, flimsy speakers and some burnt CD's. When my brother moved in 2 weeks before my sisters lease ended, his car was stolen and they found it out in this drug hole called Sulphur Springs.I told him to put his club on his car due to the large numbers of car break ins and thefts in the complex but he wouldn't listen! When he found his car, it was sitting on blocks because someone couldn't take the rims off easily so they took the tires along with them, stereo system gone, and even his college school books were gone too. I doubt that anyone from Sulphur Springs ever bothered to pick up a book and read it, finished high school nor made an attempt to go to college, that's why they live there. Living in a drug/crime infested hole living life for the moment surviving off welfare checks and Section 8 housing,LOL. How low can you get, what a bunch of losers! The apartment itself is terrible too. The construction is terrible! If you live downstairs you better watchout!I could tell when my upstairs neighbors were leaving out the door because the floor would squeak so bad before they could go outside. You can hear people walking around, their television, etc. There also is a high number of young people that live there too so you know what that means:Loud music, parties,no respect for others, etc. I lived there for 13 months (It would've been 12 but I got 1 month free) and living there was the worst experience of my life! When I first moved there, the first set of people who lived there were 2 young Caribbean guys and they were a pain! They played their music too loud.I have 2 sons that were 3 months and the other 2 years at the time when it happened so their sleep was limited. I complained on them so many times because they wouldn't stop even after management warned them of the consequences that the old apartment manager finally told the two to get out. That was a terrible 2 months! 3 months of quiet was gone when another loon by the name of Nikisha moved in. She was a pain in the butt too. She always had her television up too loud. I asked her the first time to keep it down and she did but the second time when I confronted her about the problem and she gave me a nasty response,I took it apartment management. Of course, she got a notice from management but it still didn't stop her from getting notices put on her door. She made numerous attempts of creating unneccesary disturbances with the help of her low class dysfunctional family. Disturbances such as bamming and banging with high heeled shoes, door slamming, loudness period! Thanks to her drug addict, Arby fast food working mom, untalented wanna be rapper brother, and trampy dressing, fake hair wearing sister, they all helped contributed to her moving on out! When I submitted proof from witnesses such security who also provided a written report of the incident to give to the apartment manager and one of the leasing agents of what I've been complaining about for months on end, they finally took action. Especially after I contacted the property's corporate office and complained about the way the manager failed to handle the complaints. After that, they came up with a solution. They tried to offer her an apartment that was even more than what she was paying because there were no more downstairs apartments that were the same price she was paying before available. She whined that she couldn't afford to move to an even higher paying apartment so the new apartment manager came to me wanting to know if I was going to renew my lease 2 months before I was suppose to put in my 30 day notice. The deal was if I said yes, that I was, they weren't going to make her move. I told the lady that I would think about it and I stalled out on my decision. One day, an incident went on in the apartments.(A failed robbery that went on in the complex in broad daylight around 2 o'clock that caused a huge scene followed by a car break-in that failed around 4 o'clock and a neighbor fighting with somone later on that day which I watched from my back window. I personally called that "The Craziest Thursday Ever"). As I went to go see what was going on at the 2 o'clock incident(failed robbery),I met up with the apartment manager who was also fleeing to the scene, she told me that Nikisha put in her notice to vacate but she didn't know when when she was leaving. When I heard this, I waited until it was time for me to put in my 30 day notice to vacate which was due 3 or 4 days later and not before. In my letter which was 3 pages long, I included in the 30 day notice the problems I've mentioned on this post plus I also told them of the high volume of drug activity that goes on there....before, I don't think they thought it was that serious.I swear to you after I gave them that letter,I've seen police driving in the apartment complex most nights in unmarked police cars. They did have security there but they got rid of them a month or two before I gave them that notice because I guess Brookside felt that all of the car break-ins didn't seem to diminish when they patrolled anyway. Not only did they patrol at Brookside but they also patrolled the apartments named "Broadmoor" down the street from Brookside because they were having the same problem with frequent car break -ins as well. They were patrolling 2 properties at the same time. In my opinion, they were always fast to my responses. It was nice to know that they were always down the street whenever I needed them. Luckily before they got rid of security, and I'll say it again, I was able to the prove to the security guards my accusations of that crazy girl making disturbances were true. The girl was too much trouble to deal with. Nikisha and her sister had the nerve to get the apartment falsely by saying they both lived there just so they could make the three times the rent requirement bracket when in fact her sister never resided there in the first place...How ghetto is that' This was dis
