It's sad how far they'll go to make sure you'll move into that hellhole....Now, they're offering free TV, DVD player and a free stereo that's more than likely to get stolen from the unfortunate one who decides to live in that danger zone. If you want to live in a place that reminds you of a scene out of "Boyz in the Hood" or any other gangster flick...Brookside is the place to be! Drugs, fugitives, fights, slummy living conditions...need I say more' Unless you like that kind of excitement, I suggest you find some place else. Just stay out of the Temple Terrace/University area all together because the whole area is bad and no matter which complex you move in, you'll find problems just as bad or worse. Since they've been tearing down those projects down in East Tampa, they've relocated them all out there. Slowly the area is turning into East Tampa all over again. Before you know it, every apartment complex will either take section 8 or subsidy, all businesses will close and all there will be are pawn shops and Rent to owns on every corner just like a 7-11, hair stores, chinese food places that won't deliver in the area, a grocery store or two and gas stations ran by Middle Easterns. All good eateries will be gone like Carraba's and Olive Garden to be replaced by a Soul food chicken shack which will be the main attraction since all the good restaurants will leave anyway. You can't take an EBT card to a restaurant and tip the waiter with a chicken bone. Good luck to hood living, ya'll! College students going to USF, your best bet is to either live on campus or stay at home with your parents until you finish college....unless you want to end up writing a term paper on your experience of "Living in the hood". Stay in school or this is where you could end up.

What the previous author posted is not what I am having a problem with. Believe it or not I have been living here at Brookside for the past 10 years this January and my car or apartment has not been broken into. What I hear from the previous contributor is antagonistic toward a certain group of people. Myself being black and the two neighbors above me, one white and the other right out of Africa have been living here for a combine total of at least 18-20 years. So maybe part of his/her experience has to do with somthing other than just Brookside. For example, it may be the company you keep etc. My problem with Brookside is however recurring. It is the service from management. I have problems with the property upkeep the kinds that happens over time and making request to have things taken care of in a timely manner or just being done right is what I am having to battle. Right now I am trying to locate the Owner/s of the place and you'll find that the name listed on Hillsborough County Property Appraiser does not include a phone #, nor does the Website that you are routed too - Barfield Bay Properties, Inc. And when you call information to get a phone # to that location there is none at the address listed on the website. So you feel like you're totally lost, and if there is something that needs attention you can't talk to the next in command and you are totally without a prayer. What I'd like to know is, is this any kind of way to do business? I agree with the previous contributor of his description of it being a "hellhole" only when it comes to these things, other than that I go about my day doing my business and greet as I meet and not probe or stare, share a christmas card every year with them and that seems to work well regarding my neighbors. Other than that I would just like to talk to someone to make my complaints register and get something for the money that I am paying.
