My wife and I live her currently but we are eager to leave. Our experience wat Camden Bay has been disappointing.
In May of 2005, we were massively robbed in the middle of the day. Someone had a key and came in, stealing all our expensive electronic equipment, all my wifes jewelry including several keepsake family heirlooms and our guests jewwlry. All in all, they stole nearly $5,000 in stuff.
The person/people who robbed us were professionals. They entered without any signs of forced entry and used some of our clothing as a pair of gloves to prevent fingerprints.
It was bizarre that they robbed us in the middle of the day. We wondered whow this was possible. Then we realized that we hd just had a maintenance crew in to replace our fridge. I recalled that this crew asked a bunch of questions about my wife, where she worked, where she was in the middle of the day, all because they read her name off a diploma on the wall. They are my primary suspects. So, I called Camden and they absolutely refused to give me the name of the company that put in the fridge and stopped talking to me about the robbery unless a police officer was inquiring.
Thye wouldn't even put another lock on the door. I had to do it. I had to opay out of my own pocket. Clearly security is an issue here. This isn't a gated community despite the black gate at the entrance. Everyone lets everyone else follow them in and there is no security guard at the gate. There is no security patrol in the property at all.
I have also seen vehicle vandalism, beatings, high speed, noisy racing in the middle of the night, drunk college kids, drug deals/drug house apartments, and an in complex prostitute. Don't even get started on the steroid inflated bozo's from the Lifestyles gym who feel the need to play annoying loud music by the pool every weekend.
I would not rate the proeprty a must.

Even so, it was during the day that he got ROBBED. A person should have a sense of security during all times of night AND DAY. He is not picky, if you had 5,000 taken from you then you'd be a bit angry to. The fact that there is some sort of security and stuff like this still happans is outrageous! Good bye Camden...def not my choice anymore.

---- happens. so does robbery. you have to be responcible for your self, no one else in life is going to take responcibility for you. get renters insurance. if you don't like the people you live arround with then pay the $300,000 dollars to get a house on the beach with the rich snobs, otherwise admit that you are no better than the other people in your appartment complex... if your were you wouldn't live there.

Got to love it when everyone jumps on the guy who got robbed and is warning everyone about the problem. (Me.) Exactly what would I have to gain by posting a negative comment about the complex? Next question: what would someone who posts a criticism of the poster have to gain? For the record: The "security guy" who patrols the property at night literally speeds through each area in a golf cart. He has no law enforcement ability and does not even enforce noise violations. NO police come into the complex unless called in for a problem. The problem here isn't that I was the only one who got robbed but more the fact that a robbery happens in this complex every single week at a minimum. All you have to do is check the local news crime statistics online and read the paper. Every single week! Tell me, is that security? Is that "---- happening?" No, that is called willful neglect of duty at best and criminal culpability at worst. Like I said, the complex won't even release the names of the 3rd party contracting company that they hired to replace my fridge a week before I was robbed. Sounds a little crooked to me - does it not? You are damn right I am picky. $1090 rent a month utilities for an apartment and I shouldn't have to put up with this type of a situation. I don't pay this kind of money to live in the ghetto. I don't need to go out and buy a house because I am too mobile to "settle down." Just because I am mobile doesn't mean I must sacrifice anything in value expecially when I am promised one thing and given another in contract. I disagree with d20gats 100%. I AM better than the people in my complex that are total morons. If I were just as bad as they were, I would be a drug dealing, steroid pumped up prostitute. Are all the residents total -------s and thieves? Of course not. But, are enough of them total -------s and thieves to make this complex a completely unrecommendable complex? Absolutely! Sorry, my standards are the minimum acceptable standards for fair and decent housing within any community. Expecting others to conform to those standards is not out of the ordinary. I feel bad for those people who think they have to settle for less. By the way, it isn't a "campus" it is a multi-unit residential housing complex. Seems you might be used to living on a "campus" judging by your seeming agreement that a guy in a golf cart is enough to qualify as security. |

robberies happen everywhere and anywhere...just read the papers! how is it YOU know that so mant residents are thieves??? Just curious on how you actually KNOW that! ...WOW, if we could clone you, we could all be safe forever! And...call me weird, but I would swear I was paying taxes for law enforcement to fight crime, I didnt know we paid managers to do it!!! If I were the manager, I think I would want hazard pay! I wish you luck finding that "perfect" place.

You cant blame a complex for you getting burgularized,(robbed is when they steal something off of you, burgulary is from a dwelling). Also, robberies happen anywhere, but they happen at nice places, because they know there is money at nice places. If you have so much expensive stuff, you should get renters insurance, and maybe up your security on your own if you house valuables. Also for the complex not releasing the info ona company, that was the right thing to do, you dont know it was them, you have a huntch. For all they know you are going to track the person down and kill them. You should be greatful that they have security that patrols. Security is only a deturrant for the lesser criminal, same things for locks. If someone knows somehting is valuable is inside, they can get in, and will. If this sort of thing is happening all to much in this complex, you should get the victims together and go to the police department or sheriffs office in the area, and tell them about your problem, and see what they think, they might be able to add a daily patrol around the outside of the complex, or something of that nature.

The reason people get robbed so much is because the locks they use on the apartments SUCK. I was drunkenly fumbling with my keys trying to get in my apartment one night, and accidently used my house key from OHIO to open the door to my apartment. So who knows how many other people randomly have keys that will access apartments in Camden Bay. I was robbed, and the staff really didn't care, seems most people there have been. I would NEVER live there again, and encourage people with any sort of class to seek other places to live. The "security guard" really only rides around in his golf cart looking for women, and if there is a problem, like someone being robbed or jumped, he has no authority to jump in and help, ALL he can do is call the police. He told me that himself after my roommate was jumped.

I've been robbed 4 times in 6 months yesterday after church I came home and caught the ones responsible, they rushed me out my back door and hurt me pretty badly...I caught one of them..he was 12 and paid by the older ones 40 bucks to help them out. He is now in custody and the others will follow when found. 5000. dollars worth of stuff has been taken..I make 7 bucks an hour and cant afford renters insurance or much else. We all try, we work hard, we dont want what little we have taken when we get a little. Don't blame the victim..blame the one who violated us. United we stand Divided we fall...
