The nightmare that is Camden Live Oaks

Our nightmare began even before we moved in. We were told that we would have a certain apartment with a wooded view and given the address. However, FOUR days before we moved in we were told the residents in our soon to be apartment were not moving so we would have a different apartment with a lovely view of the parking lot. This was a major inconvience considering we had already sent out our change of address forms. The office was neither sympathetic nor helpful. We soon realized what a joke the parking is. If you are not home by 4pm forget getting a spot near your building. Usually you have to create a spot or park two or three buildings away. I've come home late only to find no parking anywhere near my building so I park in the grass, only to be threated with a parking ticket. Hey, provide sufficient parking for the residents and you won't have people parking in the grass. Parking far away is more than an inconvience in this complex though. You are risking your life taking the walk from your car to the building. The complex notified the residents of two violent crimes in the complex in just the last four months. The light outside our apartment has been broken for about five months. Even after three seperate requests by us to fix it, it remains broken. The appliances are old and worn out. So if you want to live in an unsafe apartment with insufficient locks, no parking, old appliances, incompetent office staff, security that is a complete joke, and inattentive maintenance than this is the place for you! Otherwise steer clear! I can't wait until my lease is up.

How sad to see that this complex has continued on a downhill course under Camden's management. It was a beautiful place, with good maintenance and helpful, respectful employees while under the care of Trammel (sp?) Crow. I just loved living out in the Preserve. The first sign of the downward spiral: Camden started pushing USF student rentals, the noise increased, car volume increased, and vandalism increased. Too bad.
