Initially, the only complaint I had regarding this apartment was the shoddy interior construction (not a single light fixture installed properly, obvious gaps in carpet installation, kitchen sink fell apart the first day, pipes rattle when you run the water, grease on the wall where the previous occupant's head rubbed against the wall when he slept). But the management of the complex has gone downhill considerably since 2004 (I've asked 8 times for a copy of my lease and have yet to receive one, no one takes any requests or complaints seriously).

The noise level is intolerable - upstairs neighbors party until 5 a.m., downstairs neighbors play stereo loudly starting at 8 a.m., motorcycles without mufflers race through the complex at early morning hours, car stereos play and car alarms go off 24/7. The only decent sleep I've had in about 8 months was when I slept in my car or at my office (yes, really, it's that bad). All of this is despite the fact that the lease clearly states that your tv or radio should not be audible outside your house. Moreover, the walls have no insulation, so that I can hear EVERYTHING my neighbors do - even urinate! (yes, it's really that bad.)

Water bills are paid per square foot floor space...which means that I pay the same as my neighbors who have 4 people, including a baby, and also have a washing machine, even though I probably use 1/4 of the amount of water that they use. Additionally, there have been at least 4 occasions when the leasing office failed to deliver a utility statement on time. The dumpsters have caught on fire at least twice in the last year, leaving no where to take garbage. And when the card dispenser in the laundry mat broke, it took three weeks for the leasing office to have it fixed, meanwhile no one could do laundry.

And NO ONE cleans up after their dogs.

Recently, teenagers from local suburbs have started racing their parents cars down the streets on weekend nights...very unsafe!

The complex across the street has gone condo, making this one of the last (barely) affordable places near the college campus, so what used to be a marginally upscale, quiet neighborhood is now just a run down, noisy, crappy place like all the other "low" rent places.

I despise this place...Honestly, I'd move to New Orleans before I'd pay to live here again.

I lived at Camden and I feel that Camden is getting a bad rep. It is not the office staff or Camdens fault that people drag race up and down the street late at night. Nor is it Camdens fault that people on the poperty choose not to tend to their children and their children are the ones braking into the laundry card machine and the coke machines and stealing the money out of them. The Camden live oaks is a nice property and sometimes you get people in there that don't care weather it is untrained staff or residents but the people that write these opinions need to sit back and think about the whole situation before putting the whole Camden experience on blast!!!

I agree with thinkfastirst. You hould not place all th blme on the Management. I can't even what it is like to have to run a place that big.I lived there for quit some time and enjoyed my living experience. It is your choice to live in an apartment. There is no way to soundproof them. Tampa Palms is still a great place o live and you are making sound like the ghetto!!! Go live in a house if you want everything your way. I doubt you ever slept in your car because of someone peeing too loud! If you are that noise senstive then you need to buy a house!!

Totally agree on the shoddy interior -- they paint every time a tenant moves. Our outside patio is just paint chips slowly peeling up with the humidity. The carpet peels up on the sides because it wasn't glued/nailed down properly. Sometimes you stick your foot on a sharp bit between doors where the carpet was supposed to be nailed down. Shoddy interior, I agree! It's all a cover-up job!
