My wife and I moved to Captiva Club in 2005. I had previously lived there in 2001 and it was fine, but what a difference 4 years make. My wife and I both began having breathing problems and burning eyes shortly after we moved in. We found MOLD in the apartment. When I told the office about it, I was told it was nothing and I was over reacting. My wife was in the hospital several times because of this before we found the mold. I asked to be moved to another apartment and was told that they would not move us, but would fix the mold. They never came to fix it. When I sent a second letter the response was a total lie. They said they spoke to my wife and she would not let them in the apartment. The date they said she denied access was the day she was in the hospital losing our first child.

Second issue was our neighbors below. Captiva says they have a friendly neighbor policy where disruptive neighbors are kicked out of the complex. Our neighbors had their music so loud that you could hear it out in the parking lot. Not just a little bump of the bass, but every word. In our apartment we could not hear our television over their stereo. We complained to the Management office and were told they would send a letter. I called 3 days later with the same complaint and no letter had been sent or even noted in their file. Finally, the office told me to call the cops. Nice policy!

We finally found a way to transfer to another complex. When we were moving our neighbors were arrested for attempted rape and drugs.

Also during our torture at Captiva Club there were seven cars stolden during one night, several apartments were robbed, and there was a lot of gang activity in the complex.

Overall, Captiva Club is a horrible, unmaintained complex. Even the Fire Alarms were damaged and unusable.

Save your money, time and frustration and do not rent at Captiva.
