If you are a single female. . .find a roommate. This place isn't dangerous, but I wouldn't want my girlfriend living here alone. Which, incidentally, my girlfriend has lived at Camden on Westshore (formerly Dolphin Pointe) for 4 months now and has already had to call 911 once and has heard 3 reports of apt. breakins and one rape. And this place isn't income restricted and rent isn't all that cheap. It is right next door to the Projects though. HEY! Let's give 'em more welfare! That's another story.
Clipper Cove is only 1 and a half years old and it is kept up fairly nice. Maintenance tries to keep up with the uneducated, uncivilized tenants, (trash overflowing the dumpster, broken gates, etc.) myself not included, and they do pretty well. I moved here with two other friends after getting laid off and fell slave to credit cards. Rent WAS cheap, but supposedly is being jacked up for 2003! We live in a three bedroom and are going to be paying over $100 more a month in 2003. I am in the process of investigating this.
Keep in mind, THIS IS INCOME RESTRICTED HOUSING! So, some of the tenants' brain power is equivalent to that of their income (RESTRICTED). Keep your stuff locked up on your porch, make sure your windows lock (mine didn't so I put broomsticks in the tracks), and keep a can of raid handy.
