Don't be fooled initially by the appearance of the models, what the office staff says, or the landscaping. The worst problem you will encounter here is the maintenance. When you call, most of the time you have to leave a message that will never be returned. They rarely fix the problems and won't replace anything of value. Our A/C unit went out three times in two months and they all occurred on the weekend. Countryhood refused to come out on weekends unless our indoor temperature was above 90; It didn't get there but it came close. Even when Monday came around you had to hound them to get the job done. They paint over leaks to hide them. The carpets are disgusting and probably have to be destroyed by the renters to be replaced for the next tenant. The sinks and tub are prone to overflow and take too long to fully drain. Our fire alarm must have malfunctioned well over ten times. I'm lucky there never were fires. The only thing to get it to stop going off was to take the battery out because they wouldn't fix or replace it until I told them I took it off of the wall. They said this was a safety violation and I agree but so is leaving a fire alarm in an apartment that doesn't work properly. It was too dark at night to see everywhere and was very scary for my fiancee to come home to by herself at night due to insufficient lighting. I had a few run-ins with a group of several young kids who have nothing to do but be out at any time of the night and cause trouble. Kids will be kids but how do this many kids get together at 1 am to cause trouble without their parents stopping it. I understand that the cheaper the rent is the more likely there is to be crime but I'm still amazed at the level of parenting of these people. The money a family makes doesn't always correlate to the parenting skills of those parents. When I would call the cops they told me the parents didn't care or the parents weren't home and that the kids wouldn't tell on each other and give up who did it. The cops couldn't do too much because they would never get there in time and the kids were in such large numbers. How did the cops never go after the parents' My direct neighbors were fine except for one man in the same building as ours. He is mentally handicapped and I'm not sure if he is suited to live on his own. He was very nice and I'm sure he would never hurt anyone but I did not enjoy him living in the same building. I know this may sound very harsh but he did have a lot of problems that proper supervision could have solved. He would come outside in his underwear or improperly dressed, stare at people through his window endlessly, and he was very loud. He had the cops called on him a few times due to arguing with another mentally handicapped woman that lives on the opposite side of the building. He must have woke me up almost every day at six in the morning by yelling at people passing by. When I walked my dogs outside, he was petrified and ran inside. I saw that he would have visitors to help him but he needs more than what they were giving him. I don't have a problem with him, I have a problem with the complex for allowing him to stay there with that level of supervision and whatever social department that placed him to live there. I have only lived at one other apartment complex and maybe I got spoiled while living at Lake Carlton Arms. I should have never moved out of there and into Countryhood because of LCA's higher price and further distance from my work and school.
