It may take some searching, but you can do better

I've lived here for over two years now... The place is a mixed bag to say the least. To be fair, most apartment complexes in this general vicinity are of similar quality. We're right by USF; one entrance opens out onto Skipper Road, which is in the loop of apartments that are mostly all USF students, and another entrance goes out into New Tampa.
They have "Eagles Point in Tampa Palms" on all their stationary, to make it sound fancy, and while your address is indeed Tampa Palms, it's because back when this and Cypress Run were one property they both used the 15501 Bruce B. Downs Blvd. address.
I'm really dissatisfied with the condition of the apartment. They show you a nice model, then what you get is a place with appliances that are probably as old as I am, dating from the 1980s, which sap electricity and make your electric bill sky high. The walls in my place literally were just painted-over wallpaper.
Management and staff come across as incredibly nonchalant. They go through leasing agents like water it seems like, which doesn't really surprise me. I think it's incredibly tacky that you can find the general manager of the place on here (jfrits1217) masquerading as a resident and posting defensive comments. Maybe if she and the others devoted as much time to actually addressing some of the problems around here, instead of posting on apartmentratings.com, the place would be better. The maintenance staff is a cross between comical to just a pain to deal with.
The community is a mix between college kids and families with lots of kids and teens, with some older people thrown in. There are times when the kids can be incredibly unruly. To be honest, I sometimes feel like I'm living in a bit of a ghetto; there are now cop cars patrolling the place every night, which is definitely a good thing.
I really wouldn't rate my neighbors in the highest esteem... I've routinely come out to find my car being used as a trash recepticle. And my friend, who also lives in the community, had the pleasant surprise of finding a used condom next to her car. Classy. This isn't in management's control, but it is a reflection of the class of people you have here.
Like I said, it needs to be taken into consideration what other options are out there. I have friends who live at St. Croix, Hidden Palms, and Oak Ramble, all in the neighborhood, and their places are just as bad if not worse. The price of rent isn't cheap by any means, but it's one of those cases where you're paying because it's in the proximity to USF.
If you want better living, definitely go up a few more minutes into New Tampa. Anything in the Lutz/University area (including Temple Terrace) is going to be this same sort of layout.
Is this the worst place in the area' Definitely not. Am I really happy here' No. But it could be worse.
All I know is the lessons I learned from this experience are going to prevent me from making similar mistakes when I move away from here.

I actually am the one who responded with jfrits1217. I am not the manager but a resident. I know it is similar but a coincidence. The community is not the best but far from the worst. I like living here compared to other places I have been

That's an awfully strange coincidence, because I can understand that you might like the property. It has its moments. But the fact that you, as 'jfrits1217' happen to be going around with an almost psychic knowledge of what goes on in the leasing office seems to more or less point to you being who we all are saying you are. Not to mention that you responded within minutes of my posting this review. Not many residents have that vested an interest that they'll run and defend the place in every single post like you have. At least be honest.
