I currently have been here 10 months.
Overall a positive experience.
Positives:
-Large 1 bedroom for the price.
-Though the place is old, at least it's pretty well-maintained.
-I thought crime might present a problem based on other folks opinion of the area, but there hasn't been one incident and I live at ground level.
-Management and maintenance is friendly and helpful.
-No pest problems whatsoever.
-Cable included.
Negatives:
-Old means poor sound insulation and I can hear everything my neighbors above and to the sides do...and I mean everything.
It actually sucks since my upstairs neighbor has woken me up plenty of times in my 10 months here.
-Parking is sometimes lousy as guests tend to not park in guest spaces and I'm forced to park far away since I tend to come home late from work.
-No puppies or kittens allowed.
-Maintenance has twice left messages of requested repairs on my door, even though I have never requested for any work done.
My paranoid self thinks it's some shady maintenance guy trying to snoop around.
-I can only speak for 1 bedroom apt bathrooms, but the bathroom is small.
Not enough towel racks, medicine cabinet door serves also as the mirror, which makes it small.
The 3 lights produce a lot of heat and you end up sweating unless you leave the door open; you can lower the bulb watts, but then the room is not bright enough for me.
The toilet is shoved right between the tub and the sink...no room.
-No alarm....any smart individual would have to take extra precautions to secure their apartment...I bought a motion detector alarm, changed the non-locking front door knob with a locking one, replaced the standard door chain with one that can be chained and locked when you are not there, and attached window locks to every window and patio door.
Worse comes to worse, I have also taken advantage of Florida's liberal firearms laws...wink, wink....
