A very beautiful old building (completed in 1926 as a hotel) with great history and aesthetics. Apartments are a bit small, it's not cheap, but....you just love living here. Parking is at a premium, but there always to at least be a bad spot on any given day.

The maintenance crew are excellent: they respond very quickly, fix it right the first time, and keep everything looking great inside and out.

Noise is a pain, as it is in many apartments, but all of my neighbors are pretty quiet during sleeping hours. I hear the occasional thump, music, or vacuum, but never at an unreasonable hour, and never so loud as to truly disturb.

My only downer is that access to the south tower is restricted, and no one is allowed up after 10 p.m. I had initially rented the apartment with the notion of bringing my very expensive, laboriously maintained telescope up on the roof, with the towers great view of the southern sky. This is not allowed, not after 10 p.m. I reckon that the awful din of looking at stars would keep someone awake....

Management occasionally sounds snarky in their missives, but they respond quickly and appropriately to problems, and are friendly enough.

The building is old, and has termites, and is being tented (that should be something to see) in May for a few days, in which residents and pets are being required to find other lodging, with a break on the rent. Not a problem for myself, but for people new to the area without family and friends, I imagine it's quite a pain. That said, a building so beautiful deserves preservation.

Davis Islands is an absolutely wonderful place to live, and I don't want to leave. I'd recommend the area to anyone trying to get a sequestered suburban lifestyle with 5 minute access to downtown/ybor city/channelside/hyde park/bayshore.
