Take a chance, you will be disappointed and upset and stuck. The closets are big and spacious,WRONG. I live in the Apartments and the closets are not big, actually they are 3 ft by 3 ft maybe 4 ft by 4 ft in one bedroom and in the master bedroom "it" is 10 ft by 2 ft very very small closet space. I have a storage room or "loft" as they call it and since there is not enough room in the apartment it is used for storage. The washer and dryer are terrible. The dryer takes at least 2 to 3 cycles to dry clothes, I am talking underwear, bras and t-shirts not jeans or towels - undergarments, I take heavy items to the laundry mat so I can get them done in once cycle and can get back home. Mold is a big problem in these units, very poor ventilation and air flow. The AC and Heating unit is very poor and cheap. It is housed in the same room as the washer are dryer Yea that is real good, all of the dirt and dust from the washer and dryer going right into the air return. These apartments are dusty and dirty, you have to dust at least three times per week as the ducts are old and out of date. These units are old old old, remember that when renting here. They have taken these units and made the outside pretty but they didn t do anything with the inside except lay some tile and new carpet, and put some very in expensive appliance in them. Forget about parking. You are not going to have anywhere to park unless you get home at 5 p.m. in the afternoon and unless you work within 2 miles of this apartment community that is NOT going to happen. Plan on staying in that parking spot the rest of the night, once you get a space to park in do not leave, you will loose it and not have anywhere else to park. If you are interested in living there, drive through the community at night around 9 or 10 in the evening. Pull into Harborbluff way near the rentals office, make a left on Harborside Dr and just drive around the property and see what I mean, you will see cars parked all over the road, on the side on the road, double parked in spaces, on top of the mailboxes, and in the grassy areas. Take a look at the garbage compactor, it is always over flowing and people just dump there garbage in the front and leave. I have seen cats, wharf rats and opossums out there at night. There is always loud music coming from the ------- that live there, they drive up and down in their hoopties blasting loud ----------- music, I live at the very back of the community, and I always hear this yelling and music so I know that it is not coming from Longboat. As far as safety, they finally stopped all of the kids from congregating at the front entrance. Wow was that a night mare. My child does not go out after 5 at all. I just do not trust the area and some of the things that have gone on there. I know that there was an attempted rape earlier. There are so many more issues with this place. My lease is up in June and we will be moving to another location, we have been looking and we think that we can go towards Oldsmar. It is a little further as far as a commute but our health, well being, mind and body are worth it.

I totally agree with the original reviewer. Don't believe the previous response to this review, which was probably done by an Island Walk staff member. They are FULLY AWARE of this site and occasionally counteract bad reviews. *** If you find a glowing review of Island Walk, it is not true.

I don't work for Island Walk Apartments, as I've stated I've lived here for over 2 years now and never had any of the issues that have been stated. In fact, we just moved into the largest apartment they offer and I couldn't be happier, we have a beautiful view of the lake area by the island. I'm sorry you have had trouble in the past, maybe you should consider looking inside for what bothers you instead of coming down what is a really great apartment complex.

Whoever did this review is obviously crazy. I have been living here since July 15, 2008 and I think it's a wonderful communityto live in. I have 2 dogs and my apt is spacious enough for us all. I rarely heat any noise. I haven't had any problems w/my appliances and it only takes one cycle for my clothes to dry. As for kids....I rarely see them except for early in the morning when Im on my way to work, but that's only because they're waiting on the school bus. I have even seen some parents out there watching the children as well. All I can say is do the research for yourself, just like there can be Island Walk staff countering reviews, there can also be staff from other apt communities writing bad reviews. Island Walk is a great place!

Attempted rape...better check the police records - it happened in broad daylight. The victim was walking her dog and the rapist was a resident. I don't allow my daughter to walk alone anywhere in the complex. Half of the time or more the security lights are not functioning at the back of the complex. The utility door to the electric meters is constantly ripped off. My car has been vandalized. Of course, if you would like to get high, walking past the apartment 3 doors down should do the trick! When I signed my lease we were limited to one dog, not two, and it could not be over a certain size. Some of these dogs are as big as Kujo. I don't think the residents are capable of reading because reserved parking signs seem to mean nothing to them. It probably isn't important that some of us pay extra for that space and it probably means even less to them that we pay this because of my husbands medical condition. Pull your head out of the sand and take a look around - if you think this is the best in the area, maybe you are stealing my parking space because you are blind.
