A wasp nest on the balcony was only removed after we had asked the leasing office and maintenance staff a total of five times and threatened the leasing management to have a professional exterminator remove the nest while billing Lincoln Cove. Squirrels have been living in the apartment's attic since move-in in July. To this day this issue has not been addressed, even though we have complained about the squirrels and scratching noises for the past nine months. The garbage is not being picked up on a regular basis, nor have the garbage bins (banks) been emptied or cleaned since move-in. This unsanitary situation attracts rodents. We have had ant problems in the kitchen and bathrooms, as well as roaches and even a rat inside our apartment. The maintenance staff did not respond to the placed maintenance requests, nor was the apartment exterminated. Once again we threatened the leasing office to have the apartment professionally exterminated on their expense. It took the leasing staff three weeks to react to the first four complaints, another ten days to exterminate on the second complaint, two weeks on the third complaint and eleven days on the fourth complaint.
The pump in the washer broke and water was leaking into the apartment. After an emergency call to the leasing office was placed to inform them that the apartment had been flooded and water was dripping into the apartment underneath we were informed that this was NOT an emergency. Lincoln Cove responded two days later to inspect the washer and the situation in general. The maintenance staff was shocked and could not understand why the leasing staff did not consider the situation an emergency.
The garbage disposal has been broken twice. Each time three phone calls and one final personal visit to the office was necessary to get Lincoln Cove's maintenance staff out to address the issue. The kitchen sink had been leaking upon move-in. After three attempts, over four month, the maintenance staff finally managed to fix this problem. A clogged up kitchen sink was finally fixed by ourselves, since we waited for five days being unable to use our kitchen sink.
The main concern about the living situation are our neighbors. Several complaints with the police and the Florida Department of Children and Families were filed, since their child had been noticeably beaten. The child was finally removed from his parents. Our neighbors engage in social interaction with other residents outside of their apartment almost daily. Due to consumption of alcoholic beverages and various drugs the noise level often keeps us from being unable to sleep. These parties last up until 7 am. Loud music, yelling occur, fighting and screaming occur right underneath our bedroom window.
We have also observed suspicious activity. Random people that do not live inside the apartment complex keep on visiting our neighbors for short amounts of time. Since our neighbors consume drugs this leads us to believe that our neighbors may be dealing with illegal substances as well. Certain behavior patterns, next to drunkenness, can be clearly identified and can most likely be related to the consumption of marihuana, cocaine and possibly crack and/or ecstasy.
We have informed the Hillsborough County Sheriff's office a total of 7 times to dispatch an officer to address the noise issue, since Lincoln Cove's leasing staff has failed to address our complaints, or not addressed the complaint in an appropriate matter to resolve the issue.
Our vehicle has been damaged after these complaints have been filed with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's office. The lock was destroyed with a metal object and the car has been keyed.
