My husband is in the military, and we got orders to leave North Carolina and report to Tampa, Florida in January of 2007. We were not able to physically see the Legacy before we moved in, but from the reviews it got and the pictures, we figured it would be a decent place if we weren't going to stay there long. I mean, it couldn't be that bad if there was a waiting list, right'
HORRIBLY, HORRIBLY WRONG! Never in my life have I lived in such a horrible apartment complex. When we first pulled up, the roofs on all the buildings were crumbling and rotting, which the leasing agent ( I won't say her name, but everyone knows her as the [ word that rhymes with witch ] ) assured me was being " remodeled ". Well, a year later, and they still haven't been fixed, still look like the outside of a crackhouse, and frequently leak during storms. But this was just the beginning. We had already given a security deposit, so we were pretty much stuck.
I tried to keep an open mind as we walked into our apartment for the first time, but quickly became disheartened when we realized that the pictures we saw online were extremely deceiving. The reality of the apartments:
Kitchen - extremely small, and not nearly enough room to put ANYTHING. only 1 electrical socket for the entire area! Things will quickly pile up and become messy, no matter how diligent you are in cleaning. There were also frequent leaks in the celing above the stove.
Dining room - Not quite as bad. Only a small table will fit, and not much more.
Living room - Painfully small, and you'll find yourself tripping over the furniture, because there's hardly any room to walk. Not good for children.
Laundry Area - They won't tell you this, but your washer and dryer WILL NOT FIT in the unit provided! We were not about to get rid of a perfectly good set, so we had to settle for putting the dryer practically in front of the washer, blocking the doorway to the guest room!
Bedrooms - fairly big, and decent closet size. However, the walls are paper thin, and you'll know more about your neighbors than you ever want to, especially when you're trying to go to sleep late at night.
Bathrooms - extremely small, and not enough room to put anything!
The 2nd night we were in the apartment, we were woken up out of a dead sleep at 2:30 am by our neighbor's ( whom we also suspect was a drug dealer ) wall-shakingly loud music. This would continue for several nights, and we had to complain to the leasing office, and even had to call the police at one point. Both me AND my husband as well as the everyone around us ALL HAD OUR CARS BROKEN INTO AT SOME POINT. There wasn't anyone on row who didn't get hit. Don't bother to tell the leasing office. There's nothing they'll do.
To sum it all up, if you like living by drug dealers, having your car broken into, not getting any sleep because of loud music, and getting sick from swimming in the pool, ( we would NEVER let our child in it ), and have no room to put your things, then this is the place for you. If you don't, then RUN FOR YOUR LIFE AND DON'T GIVE THIS PLACE A SECOND LOOK. The happiest day we had since coming here was the day we moved out!

If you want to be talked down to...... Talk to Eneesa... she'll make you feel like she's doing you a favor. You kinda get the feeling that she's "royalty" and how dare you impose on her to ask a questions. She'll get to you when she has the time to deal with the common peasant.
Management should do themselves a favor.... hire another professional consultant, or a peasant with a personality!

Management IS horrible! They could care less about the tenants once they have their money, and give nothing but attitude, even when you have real basis for complaint( like coming home to the stench of weed in the hall which is also littered with used needles). A little research shows that the Legacy Apartments have also been dragged into court MANY, MANY times for trying to hold onto security deposits which should have been rightfully returned to tenants. They lost NUMEROUS cases, because they'll charge you for things that are THEIR responsibility to fix! The author is right : this place is a rip, and not at all worth the stress and headache. Save your time and money and go somewhere else!

Seriously, needles in the hall? Did you ever think of calling the police?
What kind of idiot can't measure the size of an apartment from the floorplan? If your kitchen constantly piles up and gets messy, maybe that's because you're not efficient at tidying up. When I lived at the Legacy, I had to trade in my full-size w/d for a stackable unit, totally worth the "trouble".
Next time you have to move someplace quick and can't bother with a real inspection, consider subleasing through craigslist.
It's been over 6 six years since I lived there, but I have only fond memories.
