If you go to look at the complex, make them show you all the "amenities". The exercise room - it stinks VERY bad, and almost all of the equipment is broken. Most of the time, the room is locked (but you won't want to use it anyways). The sauna - I don't believe it has ever worked and the light is broken with the broken glass still in the coals. The pool is normally dirty. The elevators are in horrible shape - no phones, no ventilation, frequently break down, and sadly, someone pees in it.

There are a LOT of bugs. The complex does spray, but you will still find yourself killing roaches (and we are a very clean apartment).

This last part is from my personal experience. We have had 1 consistantly working phone line in our three-bedroom apartment. When we moved in, one line didn't work, and Verizon and Excellence refused to fix it unless we paid for it. Since then, others have stopped working. Before the hurricanes hit, our ceiling leaked in several locations. Despite phone calls, pictures and letters, the only thing the maintance did was to paint over the spots in the ceiling where it was leaking. Yet again, we have water pouring over our furniture. We have stopped calling, since we were labeled as troublemakers for trying to make them aware of this problem. The most frustrating part, was I noticed the water damage in the apartment before we moved in, and was assured that the problem had been fixed!
