A Fair Ascertation

I've lived in the apartment complex for several years now. The maintenance was wonderful in the beginning, and I'm still inclined to say that they rate better than fair in performance. Unless they were completely forgotten all of my maintenance requests have been fixed within three business days. For the Price you can't beat the square footage. The C bedroom in the 3 bedroom model has a bigger bathroom if its available I would take that bedroom as its the same price as any other bedroom. I would also recommend getting an apartment with green carpet as the stains from prior residence don't show up as much on the dark color.

Here are the draw backs and the reason I am leaving. First let me cover the main reason. Management at the apartment. Is the worst I have unfortunately ever come across. Follow through is sadly very lacking with the office staff. Part of that may be due to the high turn over in management at the apartment complex. The managers and have come and gone. The ownership of the property has also changed hands. That sadly was about the time that service really took a nose dive. The apartment complex is now managed by the same company that manages The Edge (formally Fontana). The office has been very unopen to suggestion for ways in which to improve things. Parking for example as you may have read is something of a nightmare. I imagine its that way at many of the dorm style apartments. I've suggested numerous times that the parking spaces be numbered allowing each resident to have a certain spot designated for them. That way you as a paying resident would always have a place to park. Currently they use stickers for your windshield, as many apartments do. I was told the last time I made this suggestion by the manager of the apartment that it would be too much of an administrative headache to do that. Naturally I was a little offended at that as a paying customer making a suggestion that would put the responsibility on the residence to call the town truck company when someone was in your parking spot. Parking on most nights after 11:00p.m. is impossible unless you park in front of the apartment complex (outside of the gate). Noise is a another soar issue. Its primarily a college community and the walls are unusually thin here. You can very easily hear every conversation going on in the bedroom or apartment next to you by placing your ear against the wall. So Bass and/or a loud TV very easily travel through the walls. During the day that?s not so bad, after midnight it kinda sucks. Again part of that is the nature of the community (college). The gym is not 24hrs and you will find at many other apartments. I encourage you in all dorm style apartments and especially this one to find roommates before hand. The office here, again going back to the management problem, is very unhelpful. They have a matching list that I know for a fact they don't pay attention to. I tend to like it very cold and I have allergies to smoke. They have a section for the smoking preference they do not for the temperature. I specifically wrote on my form that I liked it very cold to over emphasis the point and that I had allergies to cigarette smoke. They've placed three smoking roommates with me over the years, and several roommates that had to have the temperature at 75 degrees. When there's a problem like this the solution when they get around to giving you one is to have you switch apartments. No matter who was there first. As you can imagine that can be quite the hassle. Especially if they fail to look at the new roommates preferences and you have to move again a few days later. Make sure that everything issue you address with the office in done in writing and would suggest you do so via certified mail as well. If you make a complaint at the office about noise make sure you have a copy of that complaint and if they say their going to send a letter make sure at least see the letter. I made over eight complaints against an apartment each time they said they would send a letter, the noise never went down, and after the eight time I asked to see the letters and not one letter had been sent. The police were no help because the music was so loud that no one inside could hear them banging on the door. The police will tell you to talk to the apartment the apartment will tell you to call the police. They have a security guard who I've never see out on the property before I've paged him 6 seperate times ove the years I've been here and never once had him return a page. Nor have I ever seen him.

If you don't mind noise, if customer service isn't an issue; you don't care where you park or don't have a car (I've had two stolen from here), and you have your own roommates. This is a wonderfully inexpensive place to live while going to school. Aside from the management issue. I imagine most of these problems are indicative of the other Dorm style apartments (The Edge, Breckinridge, Colligiate Hall, Jefferson Commons, Campus Lodge, and the others that escape me at the moment). If you have any support or difference of opinion please feel free to leave a reply to this message. It would certianly help anyone out there that's "doing their home work"........ oh yes I didn't spell check this so take it for what it is

I completely agree with your review. Currently I am having a huge issue with this place which involves the A/C and my roommates. I need it cold as well and these roommates of mine want it hot 85 . I am going to check out my options of moving in the next couple of days - hopefully I can find someone that likes it cold and doesn't steal my food and hog the entire space in the kitchen. An even bigger issue is when I want to spend time with my partner the new roommate now has a problem with us being together although I am careful to not have my partner over all the time as to not break my lease. My roommate has had people stay at the place for months without break several of them and I did not like it but I did not force her to remove them. I truly wish I had never moved here. I took over someone's lease when I moved here because I needed a place immediately, and I did not spend time to meet the other roommates. One turned out wonderful and the other was terrible - since then the nice roommate left along with 2 other nice roommates that were all offended by the bad one, and NOW I am stuck with 2 bad racist roommates - they are even trying to blackmail me for extra money. I do not recommend anyone to move here and I am hoping I can somehow get out of my lease or move to a new room with respectable people.
