PLEASE DON'T MOVE HERE

I would like to offer some words of warning to anyone wishing to move into the Reflections Apartment complex. This place is not a complete ghetto, but it is quickly going that way. The rent is relatively reasonable and it is close to many places, but it simply is not the kind of place a respectable person wants to live. My lease is up in October and I am well on my way to having a new apartment. I would not live here a day longer than I have to, even if the rent were free. Here are the reasons Reflections is a bad choice:
1.The office staff is a complete joke. They never answer the phone, and when they do, you feel like youre wasting their time. The only way to get their attention is to go and stand in front of them, so you can force them to do it. This can be particularly hard when your work schedule does not coincide with that of the office hours.
2.The maintenance staff is un-skilled and hardly speaks a word of English. Their maintenance system is flawed somewhere and very often maintenance personnel have come to my apartment to fix things I never requested. On the other hand, I have reported many maintenance issues only to have nothing done and then been told they came to my apartment and fixed it. It is frustrating, especially when you have a major problem, such as a leaking water heater that is flooding your living room. My water heater leaked for a good 3 days before some came to fix and only managed to vacuum up some water. So I had to wait another few days for someone to come out and actually fix the problem. In the meantime I had to walk around on wet carpet.
3.The bug situation is out of control. Pest control is supposed to come around, but I think they have been to my apartment once in the entire time I have lived here. I spray for bugs myself and am constantly finding roaches, ants, and spiders. So no matter how clean and nice I keep the inside of my apartment, I still end up feeling as though I live in a dump.
4.The outside of the buildings is deteriorating quickly. Mold is growing on the outside of most of the buildings and it really an eyesore to come home to. The building next to mine was recently painted a different color, but not even the entire building was painted. It looks completely trashy, and has looked so for about a month. I have not seen any other work done on the building or any surrounding buildings, leading me to wonder if they have just decided to leave it that way.
5.Most of the residents who live here are trashy/ghetto types. They have no respect for other human beings and are opening rude to you. They leave their trash out for animals to get into, and no one comes to clean it up. They blast their music and currently my upstairs neighbors are so loud that I am very often kept awake at night and awoken in the morning by their incessant noise
6.Very recently someone was murdered here. For the past few months I was just feeling as though this place was trashy, but now I realize it truly is a dangerous place to live. I honestly fear for my safety and the safety of anyone who comes to visit me here. I hate coming home when it is dark outside. I just cant wait to move away from here
7.There is something wrong with the sprinkler system. It has a sulfur rotten egg type smell that makes you want to vomit. The sprinklers also spray on the sidewalk, and no so much on the grass. This causes a problem when trying to make it into your apartment. I have been sprayed by the disgusting water more times than Id like to remember.
8.The parking situation here is horrid. If you dont get home before 4 oclock, there is very little chance you will be able to park near your building. I dont know if this is due to people living in the complex that shouldnt be there, or just a crappy amount of parking compared to the number of units. Regardless, it is frustrating. Also, due to this problem, many residents have taken it upon themselves to produce parking spots where none really exists. I have actually been stuck in a parking spot before because someone parked illegally behind me.
This complex is simply not worth the money or the hassle. Even if youre in a bind, there HAS to be something better out there than this place. Dont make the same mistake that I did!

I have come to this apartment complex many times to visit someone. Residents or visitors seem to have no problem parking on the grass or on the curbs directly behind other cars making it difficult if not impossible to back out. There is practically no lighting along the walkways behind the units where some "front doors" are. No one seems to ever use the driveway made for people to stop and dump their trash. There is always someone parking in the street to get out and toss their garbage. There is no security at all. The 2nd story floors in some of the buildings are not built well at all and allow for much noise. For close to the same amount paid here for a 2b 2b unit you can get the same deal at a much nicer place out by Cross Creek in New Tampa. |
